I know how to tie just about all the mainstream tie knots. I have the steps down pat. I have quality ties. Everything should be great when it comes to wearing a tie for me. But it isn't. I just don't have the skill of a Spoo, or a SB when it comes to getting that tie dimple just right, or attaining just the right amount of "tie boner". Help me, please! What are some of the tricks that our SF users do to get that perfect tie knot? Details or pictures would be great!
I suck at tie knots!
Whether I use FIH or HW, I don't tighten the last loop until I start pulling the blade through. After the blade is almost entirely through, I tighten the last loop. With about an inch or two inches of blade left still above the knot, I straighten the blade (above the knot) and then begin to dimple it.
Works well on everything but skinny (<3.25) wool ties and knit ties, both of which are the bane of my existence as far as knots are concerned.
