Okay, it is an exhibition, but from what I heard/seen, both players slugged it out at the end.

I'm really fond of the idea though. They should do more of this, especially in major tourneys. Thoughts?

apparently there is a woman suing over this. she claims she patented the idea, submitted it to i.m.g. who passed on it, then i.m.g. produced this event.

i don't think they should do more of this, but i'm a purist in this sense. i don't like hard courts either.

A fun gimmick, but not for serious tournament play.

Speaking of gimmicks, I would love to see a golf tournament in which players were required to jettison a club from their bag after every two holes. It would introduce a really interesting strategic dimension, as players would have to plan how they are going to play a hole several holes in advance.

how about allowing only one club to be used for the whole game?

I think this is a ridiculous match. It doesnt represent the true players abillities. Federer would pounce Nadal almost everyother day and probably will at the French this year too..

Its kind of unfair if when Nadal returns the ball bounces up from the court slower then when Federer returns when the ball is played much faster on the grass.

Federer is good on grass because he can hit hard and the ball goes fast but if the clay is slowing him down its just a handicap.

The unusual condition aside, the game was played under standard rules, which means the two players changed sides and effectively, the home surface, every 2 games.

And isn't Federer like 0-6 against Nadal on clay?

Yea Nadals better on clay..but federers been on his ass the whole time..This game was a toss it up. It could of gone either way.

But honeslty...you have to admit Federer has a really good shot at beating him in the French. He always does and I woudlnt be suprised if he does this year.

Nadal is kicking federer's butt in head-to-head with several coming on hard court...

Nadal isn't great on grass because the ball doesn't bounce as high and he puts so much dang top spin on it. Federer is great on grass because he picks up the ball really fast and has a great serve...

Nadal is going to win another French. I doubt if Federer is going to make it to the Finals again this year...
