The $300 Cap-Toe. Is the Loake Aldwych as good as it gets...

In terms of quality and sleekness of last?

Please don't suggest C & J which is at least another $200 more, barring some miracle. Also, I would not consider Meermin based on quality issues and slow shipping times.

Anything else to consider?

Thanks

For that price, it's a pretty good shoe, not sure about the sleekness of the last, it's on par and similar to Allen Edmonds.

It was discussed in this thread.

I have this one, which is made by Loake: http://www.ctshirts.com/men's-shoes/men's-business-shoes/Black-luxury-calf-leather-Oxford-shoes?q=usddefault||MC003BLK|||||412,||||||||&ppp=48
I'm not sure what last its on, but to me, it is definitely better proportioned than the Allen Edmonds Park Avenue.
This one by Herring looks nice: http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info.php?&colset=1&styleid=91&shoeid=6493&brandid=6&catid=42&oldcolid=3374&stype=0&colourid=418

Thanks for the responses.

I'll stop by CT to look at their shoes, although the complaints that their shoes look much better in pictures than they do in the store is spot on.

Just make sure you avoid the cheaper line. You want the ones made from calf leather in England. The price should be around $325.
