What are my options to have my Ferragamos recrafted?

I have a pair of Ferragamo derbys that I picked up about 5 years ago (while Ferragamo was still making decent shoes in their main line), and it's about time to get the heel and sole replaced. I took them to a local cobbler who wanted to glue a new outer sole onto them, which isn't really what I'm looking for. I want a new sole, rewelted, similar to what Allen Edmonds does with their recrafting service. What are my options to get this done? I'm sure I can find a cobbler to do it if I call around, but I'm a bit worried that they're going to fit wrong afterwards. Or is it better to just get an oversole glued on?

I'm in LA, if there are any specific suggestions of where I might take them.

I would suggest sending them to B Nelson Shoes in NYC. They have recrafted other members ferragamo's to damn near factory conditions. Give them a call, I am sure they would be happy to discuss.

I have a couple of pairs of older Ferragamos which might wear a hole soon.

Out of interest, has anyone looked into taking them to a Ferragamo store? I'd be interested to know how much recrafting/resoling would be there, and how long it would take.

I went to a Ferragamo store to inquire, and they merely gave me the address of the local cobbler who suggested the glued on sole.

This looks great - $90 round trip with postage. Will probably do this if nobody chimes in with a local option. Thanks!

B Nelson is awesome, you won't be disappointed, but I suggest he upcharge for JR soles, which are better quality than standard. Also flush mounted steel toe protectors.

Great. That's what I'll do then. Thanks!
