1. Our home is already in the same style. We are just building it out a bit. I don't subscribe to common notions of what is "comfortable or relaxing." Most of the stuff people seem to consider "comfortable or relaxing" is so ugly to me I could not live in it without feeling constantly at unease.

2. This is worth considering. In a small space, you have to be careful about packing in too many things one likes. We have modified certain choices to be a bit less attention-getting.

3. I disagree, though we went a different route.

I am applying the same "rules."

Not bad, but it doesn't impress me as being low maintenance. I'm still rooting for a jute rug..

I like that -- I think the deep blue is far superior to black in a rug.

Regarding your response above: fair enough; although, what I meant about clothing is that you shun white shirts and black suits, but you seem to like black and white in abundance in your interior design. Personally, I use black and white sparingly in everything, because I find them garish and jarring in large quantities.

Hmmm, I don't hate that, must be insufficiently modern ...

There is very little black in our furnishings. We have lots of white, though.

I don't view the starkness of white and black interiors the same way I do in clothing. In the former scenario, you are creating a space to inhabit. It isn't supposed to come across as one solitary unit, as you necessarily are as a human being in your clothes.

Kind of looks like the Star of David is in there, with the geometry and colors.

Hmm, you're right. I guess it's a very pious rug.

So, our Chair Ones, which we changed the color of, are not scheduled to arrive until freaking October.

That means we need to stretch the life out of our white fiberglass Eames chairs from Modernica, which will continue serving as our dining chairs. That means we need a new chair for our computer desk.

I think we'll go with another Eames chair, but this time a molded plastic one from Herman Miller, on maple dowel legs. The Modernica ones are not made very well, even though the fiberglass is nicer than the plastic of the licensed version.
