I don't know exactly why a countertop with a mitered edge on supports and a table with a mitered edge on supports would require more weight per square foot.

I thought you were advocating a block of marble for the coffee table...

Chiming in...making it is not a terrible idea. I Have made  number of my own furniture pieces. Few warnings about MDF. I find it chips easily during assembly, don't cut it indoors, that crap is terrible to inhale, and painting it can be  bit touchy if you are looking for a mirror finish. that being said, you can make a nice piece if you are handy for sub 200$

You know I don't get your Myron Cohen-like humour. So I'll just answer this one straight.

My coffee table is an old military rack mount transit case made from aluminum. I keep putting off having it blasted and polished so it goes better with my Eames chairs.

Philosophy as a discipline is dead. The most relevant philosophers now made their mark outside of academia.

My coffee table doubles as my floor.

I did. Just not the South you're referring to.

Pretty sure that the 'surfboard' table was not meant in the literal context.

I notice you don't spend a lot of time in them.
