I asked for people's opinions and knowledge. How the fuck did you get the above from that?

The same reason I ever ask anyone anything. To learn and socialize. If you don't get this concept, I can't see how you could be capable of either.

To learn what? It's to affirm what you think you've learned and tried to demonstrate. That's asking for validation.

foo, as someone who has been working in an aesthetic area for 30 years, it's been my experience that you are never going to achieve this. this doesn't mean that hte effort isn't meaningful and rewarding, it's just that your goals will keep changing as your knowledge changes. so to pretend that you have reached some kind of ideal through study is an illusion. in 5 years you may well look back on this and believe that some of the criticisms that have been offered are valid. it's certainly happened to me enough; it could happen to you, too.

Why can't it be that Foo is bouncing some ideas off his friends? Don't you do that?

(Directed at SH. So many posts. So quickly posted.)

No.

I think we managed to change Foo's mind on getting a custom overcoat. Maybe there were other instances, too.

Not ourselves and our vain efforts to live glamorously.

To learn what?

About furniture or layout options I might not have thought of or know about. And, as I've said again and again, to test my own ideas.

It was a real question, but I guess that's what I get.

This would be a lot more believable if:

1) you started this thread before you ordered all this shit

and

2) you hadn't already configured the purchased furniture in the one layout that realistically made sense in the cracker box of a space.

and

3) You're not retarded, and none of us have been inside, so there's really no reason to expect us to have a better idea on how to fit everything in there (we also don't know what the shit you do in there all night).

My guess is that you were making sure you represented yourself in a way others found appealing and acceptable, because how you live your life in isolation is as much about how others want you to live than it is about you living it.

Please someone tell me I am not the only one who sees how fucking self-defeating this is.
It's not self-defeating, because you're still changing your mind and finding more "solutions" based on the advice to whatever domestic activities you can't perform. Half of this shit is out of the picture, right?

It is self-defeating because if my goal was to get approval, it would have made infinitely more sense for me to start the discussion before ordering anything.
