Unusual to buy shoes with no obvious use and then ask on a web board what to do with them.

Have a look about you in the streets the see what others do.

He did say it was an impulse purchase.

I remember those days when I saw something and bought it on emotion . . . only to ask my friends, "Hey, how do I drive this new sports car I just bought?". Or, my first pair of Allen Edmond shoes led to having to choose the other "pieces".

I did buy a great book in the 80's titled "Dress for Success", which taught me never to wear a striped tie with a striped dress shirt. (Yep . . . that crazy combination is now acceptable!)

As you wrote, I too hope he will explore the many pieces to fill out his style. But starting with good shoes is not a bad place to start.

Yet it's not unusual for you to seek out newbie threads and berate them for asking a question.
