Does anyone know if the Brooks Brothers Slim fit shirts have gotten slimmer in the past 2 years? I bought a couple a few years ago when they were one of the few slim fit lines available and they were still fairly large. I just purchased an Extra Slim fit in the same size (15/32) and it is skin tight, feels like I'm wearing Under Armour. I feel like the jump from Slim fit to Extra Slim is incredible and was wondering if the Slim fit are now slimmer then they were years ago. I am a 38" chest and 31" waist.
I haven't seen any evidence of the Brooks Brothers Slim Fit getting slimmer, but there is evidence that the Extra Slim Fit has got slimmer. I was reviewing the Brooks Brothers Extra Slim Fit sizes and the shirt waist measurements given on the Brooks Brothers size charts have changed and come down by an inch. The waist measurements for the Extra Slim Fit used to be 38 inches for the 14.5 inch collar and go up two inches for each half inch collar size, so the 17 inch collar had a waist measurement of 48 inches The current measurements on the Brooks Brothers site show that the waist measurement is now 37 inches for the 14.5 inch collar and 47 inches for the 17 inch collar.
Note that there also some mistakes in the Brooks Brothers measuring charts. For Extra Slim the size chart giving chest and waist measurements goes up to 20 inch collar size, even though the largest Extra Slim shirt available is 17 inches according to the "Men's Dress Shirts Size Chart". There is also a typo in the size chart for Extra Slim. Under the 17 inch collar size the "Center Measurement at Armhole" is given as 51.5 inches. This is out of line with the rest of the measurements (which increase by 2 inches for every 0.5 inch collar size) and it should be 49.5. I emailed Brooks Brothers about this and they agreed they were mistakes, but they haven't updated the website.
