Pretty slim. The shoulder to waist taper is fairly prominent and the arms are slim with small armholes. You could wear it as a slim shirt OTR. Darting probably will give you a better back contour.

Ordered a shirt from Taylor Stitch. Decided to go with their MTM route by submitting my own shirt measurements. Barrett is an easy guy to work with, and will generally get back to you that day or the next day with an answer to your questions. Will let everybody know how the shirt is when I get it. They have a stock size made to order program too, and the measurements look fairly slim, even the regular fit shirts run close to what a company like Brooks Brothers would call a slim fit.

Ordered a Coles (www.coles-shirtmakers.com) 15.5/36 slim fit shirt with their cutaway collar. Very nice shirt with split yoke, nice MOP buttons, butterfly gusset, and beautiful collar. I recommend their shirts, but from my experience, their double cuff shirts run a size short in sleeve length. Mine measured 35.8" exactly in sleeve length before any washing and I estimate a half inch of shrinkage. I recommend ordering a size longer with the double cuff shirts. This is my second or third time buying from Coles and each time I have noticed this, was hoping it would be different this time. They don't make a 15.5/37 so I will probably put this in buying and selling forum. I am posting measurements so everyone knows how slim these shirts run. I have a 16/36 at home somewhere and will post measurements of that later.

Collar: Before wash, about 15-7/8". Since it will typically shrink slightly after a few washes, I estimate this collar fits exactly true to size.
Chest: 44.5
Waist: 42
Hip: 43.5 (at bottom button)
Sleeve: Before wash, about 35-7/8 (see note above)

I bought some Z Zegnas yesterday that have an 8 inch drop and are nicely slim all around. Saks had them at 30% off. They weren't cheap, but they fit and I like them. I tried on alot of shirts before I settled on the Zegnas.

Is it just me or do Brooks Brothers slim fit shirts fit slimmer than they used to. Most of my shirts were bought mid last year, but just bought a new batch in the last month or so, and they seem slimmer than before.

I like Topman (UK brand) shirts. They fit me very very nicely. Celio (French brand) and Zara (Spanish brand) are also nice. Btw, I'm from the Philippines, and this is my first post. Hi everyone!

Yep, I'm short and stocky and all I buy at the moment are standard fit Charles Tyrwhitt shirts, having found over the years the quality is better than TM Lewins, which I find shrink more over time (collars in particular). The issue I have is the standard shirts are really loose below the chest, even with my thick girth. I've got a big chest, broad shoulders and fairly thick arms so have always assumed that slimfits are for other builds and that I must live with the baggy shirts all scrunched up at the waist. Anyway, if nobody else with my freaky dimensions has tried slmifits maybe I'll just buy one and see. I'm betting they'll be too tight on the chest/shoulders.

Pip, you might be pleasantly surprised with the tapered fit of Lewin's slim fit, especially if you don't mind the french cuff. I am roughly as stocky and short as you are.

Tyrwhitt slim fit are simply cut smaller but do not have a tapered waist.

I am almost the same size as you, my chest is a little bigger and I like a longer sleeve, but we are very close. The Z Zegnas I bought recently fit great as did a cheapo slim fit DKNY that I bought at TJ Maxx of all places...I think the DKNY actually fit a little slimmer around the waist. I also find that the "Trend Fit" Versace shirts fit perfectly...but they are more of a sport shirt.

+1 on DKNY slim fits. I've also only ever seen them at TJ Maxx (not that i'd want to pay $50+ for one at full retail) and snatch them when I see them.

I've also recently gotten some flak for enjoying some Ben Sherman shirts (also from TJ Maxx). Not sure what people's beefs are, but I find they fit quite amazingly.

Anyone know of more european cut (i.e. very slim, back darts, etc.) shirts that can be found in the states for cheap?

The only other luck I've had was at the Daffy's near Penn Station, where I found a s/s shrit by some company called "xagon man". It has a very "out clubbing" pattern, but couldn't resist the amazing fit and it only being $15.

*EDIT*: If you're in for a laugh, check out the "xagon man" website. The models look like the unholy children of BoO, H&M, and Abercrombie & Fitch...

Thanks for the suggestions all, will look out for those DKNY shirts here in Paris and I think I will order both a TM Lewins and a CT slimfit for work to see if either works. My main issue really is my shoulders, far too much rugby when younger. I recently bought a scooter jacket recommended by a taller colleague here in Paris who wears the jacket in a medium and I had to go to an XXL to get one that fit my shoulders. I couldn't even get one arm all the way into the medium. The same colleague has some TM Lewins slimfit shirts and complains they are a bit too baggy for his taste (he's probably a more standard 5 foot 11, 38 chest and 32 waist and his other shirts are bespoke, made in Singapore). So maybe they will be OK for me.

I know it's not haute couture but zara's slimfit shirts are worth the money imho. Not something i would wear to a business meeting or interview but they are great for going out, visiting friends and you don't have to worry about spoiling them.

Id have to say some of the best fitting slim fit shirts ever come from z zegna, apposed to ez (ermengildo zegna). I also find that Dolce & Gabbana has some amazing slim fit shirts. If you happen to be on a tighter budget, some mexx shirt are an excellent choice too.

I recently bought three H&M slim fit dress shirts. They are cheap ($40 each), fit quite well and have a spread collar which is a must for dress shirts I wear. I will probably go to the tailor and get darts to achieve the exact look I want. Does anyone have any experience with these? Being H&M, do they fall apart quickly?
