Time for a new season. GSU is literally tipped by every pundit to be at the top of the D-1 rankings. (Of course that's when you sort teams from worst to last, but whatever).

Also, here is Tim Brando's preseason top 10.

A-C-C! A-C-C!

10. OU
9. Ore
8. OK St
7. Bama
6. Clemson
5. UGA
4. Stanford
3. A&M
2. Ohio St.
1. Louisville

Probably anticipating that he'll get lots of practice punting.

Charlie Weis really needs to take his fat ass back to NFL:

“If you’re taking nothing but high school kids, there’s only a couple that ever end up playing as freshmen,” Weis said. “The rest are over on the bench with me. What good is that going to do me?”

...

“You say go develop them,” Weis said. “Go develop them for who? The next coach? I’d rather be coaching the ballplayers myself if you don’t mind.”

POLLS! POLLS! WE GOT POLLS!

FSU has more juniors and seniors than last year. Watch out for them. Also the ACC at large will do better than you think. Maryland is your surprise team there.

We lost a ton of starters (eleven guys drafted) - our entire defensive line, a linebacker, our best corner, our quarterback, our best receiver, etc... Don't have a great feeling. In two years we'll be greatm not so sure about this year.

Oh and the ACC is putrid. Clemson's our best team. Clemson. FSU will likely finish in the top 15. After that, who? Miami's going to suck. Syracuse, Pitt, VaTech, UNC? There's no one.

The problem with that theory is that they rotated so many guys so often that it wasn't uncommon for second-string to have more PT than the starters (in fact, IIRC, I think the D-Line this year has more experience than last year's. I know one group as a whole does, can't remember which). Defense is still excellent.

Miami's first year of eligibility with a decent team. UNC isn't bad, good signs there. I honestly think Maryland will be better than people think and could be top 20.

Ruh roh. According to Outside the Lines, Johnny Manziel accepted payment for autographs.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...-johnny-manziel-money-for-autographs/2617413/

Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel's future college eligibility could be in question following an ESPN Outside The Lines report Sunday that the Texas A&M quarterback accepted thousands of dollars for signing memorabilia earlier this year.

The report says Manziel agreed to a "five-figure flat fee" with an autograph broker named Drew Tieman for signing memorabilia during Manziel's visit to the site of the 2013 BCS Championship game in January. The report cites two witnesses saying they saw Manziel sign the products but did not see money exchange hands.
