Morning Suit Alterations.

Hi,

I would like some advice please. I have an RTW grey three-piece morning suit from Hackett. I chose it because I really liked the shade of grey. Over the last year I have lost some weight (about 3/4 stone) and therefore the suit needs altering a bit, mainly taking the jacket and waistcoat in. My question is this, is it possible to alter tailcoats and still keep the contour of the coat and the same distance between the buttons on the back?

Any advice would be greatly received.

Many thanks.

I have the same morning suit I think-darkish grey but not charcoal? I had mine tailored down from a 46 to a 40 after losing weight. It worked out well. There are lots of panels and seams at the sides of the coat that can be adjusted. Mine still has the curved seams up the back. Does yours have the double breasted waistcoat? This is the more difficult part according to my tailor. DB waistcoats can be difficult to get right at the best of times. With mine my tailor added a new back and had to adjust the buttons at the front to keep the balance right. He actually remade the trousers entirely also. It should work out fine provided the tailor knows what he's doing.

Adagio,
Please can you tell me where you got your morning suit tailored?
I bought a morning suit from Ede & Ravenscroft last year and having worn it once I have since lost over three stone. I am loath to buy another one and really want to find a tailor who might be able to take it in.
Thanks
