The toe part ruins them for me

Palladium is a fairly well-known brand, so your question should be directed more so towards their quality, as Orvis has little to do with the boots.

I have heard good things about their quality. As far as styling, however, I prefer their Ranger boot, and Scorpion Desert boot models more. Unfortunately, I think that both are out of production.......but I've seen them on e-bay.

Pretty standard desert boot design, it's very similar to the Israeli desert boot. I've often thought that type of boot would make a good summer choice.

I really like the idea of summer boots, but I can't see myself wearing them.

A lot of those on eBay (and those J linked) are made by Scout. Any quality/authenticity comparison with Palladium branded boots?

I think Scout may be the model name, but I'm not sure. All the Scout ones have Palladium in the title.

BTW, these:

are awesome. I reeeeeally might need a pair of these.

this looks pretty cool actually.

anyone got input on sizing and quality?

Those Palladiums with the buckles look like the boots they used in Universal Soldier. Either way, they're kinda cool.

So, I'm looking at getting a pair of these (the OP's) and have heard narry a comment as to quality - anyone own a pair? Can anyone speak from any experience? Thanks!

The pair I own I bought directly from Palladium, which was a rubber manufacture in the early 20th c. As recently at last year they reorganized the company and I believe are now a wholly own subsidiary of K-Swiss. www.palladiumboots.com/ Not exactly sure how I feel about their marketing campaign.

The line is of good quality from what I understand and in my own, limited, experience. I own their fold down (top of the boot folds to snap on itself, creating more of an ankle boot) winter oriented model, made with full-grain, veg-tanned leather upper and lugged polyurethane rubber sole . They aren't a resolable shoe, FWIW, but I've been wearing them all winter and had compliments, but no problems. I'm enjoying them and while I don't believe the full buckle/strapped version is availble through their retail, online shop, I'm sure they can be found or special ordered somewhere.

Hope this helps.

Edit: Their customer service is top notch, IME, as well.

I also have the snap down boot, and I love it. I fully recommend Palladium.

They also just did a line with Neil Barret:
