Absolutley.  Particularly with the suede shaft and sleek last they would dress up and down very well.  All Utah would take the dressiness down a notch. As would the choice of a less sleek last, rendering them as more of a pure casual boot.

I dress my 82 last Doak / walnut CC boots up to a sport coat level all the time.  But my 64 last Zugs?  Never.

And if anyone wants a reminder of what the Galway in Utah on the 82 last looks like: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I do have a pair on 202! Coffee suede, here's some pics.

Edit to add: @RogerP, your Utah Galways look terrific!

I must have refreshed that webpage hourly for the two weeks prior to buying them. From what I recall, your size and my size were the last remaining stock. The 8UK sold and for a few days my size was the only one left. Finally decided they needed a good home. Now that they've broken in they are like slippers!

You are not the only one, Be.

I believe Coffee suede is gone and to be replaced with Snuff.

I probably would prefer the 82 to the 202. Open to the shaft material though. Why not Utah all the way?

Since it's not a GMTO, it's less a matter of us reaching a consensus and more a matter of Steve deciding which combo would have the most support as an order for stock. So for sure everyone with the impeccable taste to realize the undeniable awesomeness of a cloud Utah Galway should voice there preferences. All options discussed so far are good options IMO.

Are there any deal breakers for the cloud Utah?

Justin I personally would not purchase an 82 lasted galway esp on textured leather. For me those are casual boots and I would not dress them up. The 82 is a dressy last as far as i am concerned. I may for regular calf, but even then i would use a shannon or epsom. I wear mostly suits, rarely a sports coat. Galways i use with denim or other casual pants.

Of course thats my preference and what I like. Roger dresses up Galways and does it very well. Just different styles.

At the end of the day if Steve decides to stock it he just needs to get what would please the majority, we dont all have to agree (not a GMTO). He also knows that I would not hesitate much to just order what I want MTO (if i really want something) regardleaa of what he stocks.

I think you guys should compromise and do Galway on 72 last. I have not seen Galway on 72 last yet.

I think Galway would look great on the 72. The 72 is a very nice boot last. I am entertaining the idea of recreating the leffot coffee suede suede galway with Steve but on the 72 last. (Before they run out of the coffee suede they have)

Count me in in case an Antique Cloud/Lavagna shaft Galway (or Shannon) is in the cards, but 82 last (fully with RogerP there, the 202 is too clunky), and I need D width for mine. Would different widths be available on any "Don't call it GMTO"? @steveoly

this is still my #1 choice. I'm almost ready to go MTO route but hope we all agree on this and Stebe will stock it.

Note: I still wear 82 last with denim and think it looks perfect. Just have to have right denim cut, right @tifosi? happy.gif

^ I wear my Doak/CC Galways with denim or SC/odd pants combos, no probs. Love them in 82 last.

Admittedly, no idea what the 72 looks like.
PS: Had a look and nope, that won't work for me, esp. on Galways.
