I remember Unipair did a rain lasted wingtip blucher boot in CXL and it looked badass but my fear was the rain last.

Any thoughts out there?

I'm broke, but that's a great idea...

Or a shell chukka (then I can sell my Aldens)

But let's do this at the end of the year. I am shoe poor. 😎

Yes or even in grain leather or maybe @steveyoo1983 can convince Carmina to obtain some museum calf leather.

I am in for some makeup in CXL leather, preferably boots.

These are my CXL boots on the Forest last, Robert would work too.

of yes I should probably mentioned this Forest last is no for me. I actually have CXL boots in Forest last and I will be selling them soon due to the less than optimal fit.

I like these ideas as well.

Can I ask why the Forest last doesn't work for you? Just curious as I'm awaiting a PTB in the Forest last - my first one. How do you find it compares to Rain, for instance, if you can make that comparison.

Well I took both lasts in the same size but Forest just does not fit very well. This may be due to my feet or the fact that boots on Forest last are made out of CXL leather which stretch more than regular leather. This may be just my experience.

Sorry for going on about this, but in what way did they not fit well relative to Rain? Too big? Too narrow? Too wide? Problems with the instep? Just trying to do my research after the fact!

A chukka in hatchgrain or cxl would be awesome. I remember Unipair's cxl wingtip boot they posted next to an EG alderley and it looked so nice.

The length and width wise they were fine. They seem to have stretched too much. This is probably due to the CXL leather. Sorry I cannot be of more help, I never had regular calf in Forest last.

No that helps. I'm most worried about the width. Rain fits me well, but just so, and after a decent break-in period. If Forest is any narrower, I'd be worried. The pair I ordered are in suede, which should be more forgiving in my experience. I have a pair of suede captoes in Simpson that are super comfortable after breaking them in, but wearing Simpson in calf was like walking in iron maidens. Had to sell them eventually.
