Also, why is the U.S. team referred to as the USMNT? Do any other countries do this? I've never heard of the NZMNT. Is the U.S. nickname really the Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Because of the international success of the US Women's National Team, there's a more distinct line drawn between the programs - US Men's National Team.

I still think we should petition FIFA to let us play Alex Morgan on the men's team. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I suppose that makes sense, but USMNT is really awkward to say.

Alex Morgan is brilliant. Canada should petition FIFA to let our entire women's team play in place of our men.

Good news all around. The international break is over, Sweden secured a chance to qualify for the WC through playoff and the football world is back to regular league games. I now wish for Arsenal to secure the win at home against Norwich, Southampton to upset ManU and my dismal fantasy league team to make a strong comeback. In the meantime I am enjoying a cold beer in Manila. Cheers!

Playoff games for WC qualifications:

Portugal v Sweden
Ukraine v France
Greece v Romania
Iceland v Croatia

Ibrahimovic needs to do a couple of those flying backheels.

My predictions: Sweden, France, Greece, Iceland.

Unfamiliar with this team that sits atop Serie A - could some explain who the heck they are and why they sit first ???

on another note, love Giuseppe Rossi but not this past weekend....damn you!!!

Roma have been fantastic soo far. They played some serious competition and won 8 out of 8 and conceded ONE goal ONLY!!!

They arent the only good suprise in Serie A as Chievo Verona have been fantastic too and are at the top ,how long they stay there is a different story.

The two best games of the week were : Fiorentina X Juve and Torino X Inter.

Fiorentina X Juve ended 4-2 after Juve were up 2-0 till half time. Second half was a different story as Viola score 4 in a row to makeace go crazy. Rossi who was wanted by Juve scores a hatrick on them:slayer:icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gificon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Torino X Inter another crazy game. Inter Goal keeper gets red carded in minute 5 unjustly and a penalty is given for Torino. Sub keeper saves a penalty but it doesnt stop Torino from scoring
so it goes this way
1-0
1-1
2-1
2-2
2-3 Inter lead with ten men playing since minute 6
3-3 Torino equalize minute 90th

It doesnt get better than Serie A....35 goals this round.

Nice summary of Italy this weekend. Yes, the red was harsh I agree.

And this year it is actually Hellas Verona being the surprise (easy to confuse the Verona clubs). Chievo had the big start two years ago?

That Arsenal gif is amazing. It makes every time I've "attempted" to play footie look like a joke. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif
