There's a reason kids are screaming at ice cream - it's hardening their parents' arteries and causing them to die.

Ice cream is the Scottie Pippen of desserts. Great as a complementary player, not that great as the star. Does anyone order ice cream for dessert at a restaurant?

And the contrast in temperatures makes ice cream an ideal partner for pie, not cake. Except for the molten chocolate cake with the gooey center that a lot of restaurants like to serve.

I love pie, and I love ice cream. I love them together and apart. For me pie is more of a special dessert, whereas I eat ice cream every day. Right now there are a half dozen assorted pints in the freezer. You can good pretty good ice cream on any block in NYC. GOOD Pie is something special, not easily obtained, and makes the occasion a special one.

That being said, we had some pretty darn good ice cream up in Maine last summer: Round Top on the Damariscatta peninsula (Grape Nuts:happy:! ), and Goose Rocks Dairy from down near Kennebunkport drool.gif

I hear you... but B&J is just not what it used to be... pretty good ice cream. Mostly marketing now and not quite what it was before they sold to Unilever.
