I've been working on my wardrobe master plan during NPC, like the one Beatleguese made last month, and am finding it helpful. My hope is that having a long-term plan will make it easier to avoid impulse purchases and be in control. I'd recommend that all NPC members consider writing a plan if they haven't already.

Doing well on the purchasing front. I'm avoiding Spoo's thread like the plague. I am putting together quite the list of adjustments that I need to make to my current wardrobe items, and trying to figure out if I can do them on my own, or if I'll need outside help. I'm also considering trying to make my own unstructured, casual jacket.

My mind goes strange places...

This is exactly what I did at the beginning of this month and it's been working out well.

The issue for me is that my fall/winter wardrobe is way more well rounded because that's what season I was in when I first started making a real effort.

I've seen some nice finds on Ebay for summer jackets as well as some nice finds in the B&S forum here but I've resisted. I have enough to get by so I've made a list of summer staples I want/need and will collect as many as I can during the end of summer sales.

What did Beatleguese do? Link to post? I'd love to do it.

So far so good. Now that I've put away the flannels, I'm realizing I need more summer trousers. I will probably pick up a couple pairs of linen pants when the NPC ends to help get my through the summer without having half my wardrobe at the dry cleaners.

My current list of major items I really want to acquire is below (avoiding the summer items is a lot easier when you realize summer will be over by the time anything you'd order would arrive via MTM). Current plan is to keep slowly ordering pieces from Joe Hemrajani each time he comes into town (now not until September) and get the seersucker suit from BB's suiting essentials line when I can get one discounted by 25%. The list making is pretty helpful at keeping one focused; thanks for the suggestion.

Suits:

- Dark grey flannel DB suit
- Charcoal SB suit (currently have only medium grey)
- Midnight navy DB suit
- Seersucker SB suit
- Tropical wool SB light grey suit
- Light tan SB linen suit

Odd Jackets:

- SB navy herringbone odd jacket
- SB or DB Cream linen odd jacket (to replace current BB jacket which does not fit as well as it used to)
- Fresco DB navy blazer

Odd Trouers:

- Slowly replace odd trousers with MTM versions over time

Very pleased to see the club being so helpful nod[1].gif.

And I'm in a similar boat with regards to the Fall/Winter wardrobe (Korea just goes from winter to summer over the course of three weeks); I joined SF in August and my closet definitely reflects that. But FW is more fun anyway.

There is nothing I need other than perhaps a few polos for summer, and I don't plan on spending a lot of money on something without proper sleeves. My parents are coming into the country in a few days for my wedding, so they'll probably buy me some stuff.

How are you guys doing? I know you were suffering through some temptations a week ago.

Proper summer pants and a nice summer jacket are where I am lacking. I have everything else but I really need some open weave pants to deal with the humidity that comes along with Boston summers.

I may buy 2 pairs of HY open weave in July and then I can probably get through the hot weather a lot easier. I have a couple polos and I'm fine when it comes to dress shirts.

I'd love to add a summer gun club or glen plaid patterned jacket and an unstructured navy blazer down the road.

I was very tempted by these items that were ending on Sunday:

And the three of them were gone very cheap, $66 usd on average... I didn't even thorw a bid on them, I resisted completely.

Haha... that's why scouring Ebay during NPC month is such a kick in the balls.

You make mental notes of everything you missed but forget the fact that you'll encounter stuff like this nearly every month of the year.

It's a marathon.

Hahaha yes. On saturday I went to Saks and try a few Brunello Cucinelli SC's... I saw one that is amazing... saw the price and immediately thought: "I can buy it cheaper on eBay... maybe two"... dammit! lol8[1].gif

survived an outlet shopping excursion. I "accidentally" tried on some loafers and that rush of excitement filled my entire body.  I actually thought of this club and it snapped me out of it.  whew!!  Confronting the item and resisting it was a HUGE self control move for me.

Otherwise I'm fine, just planning furniture upgrades. A mirror like this or a screen to cover the ugly wall heater

temptations are going well, its easy to stop looking online at clothing but when you go to the mall over the weekend its much harder.

I might need approval to spend $10 to get buttons mended on my winter coat, they have fallen off.

Hrmmmm....I predict....that at the end of the month...you won't want those shoes anymore....their construction looks highly suspect. dozingoff.gif

And pictures of the buttons. And explanation of why you need a winter coat at the moment? Though this sounds like a pretty cut and dry case as far as emergency fund usage goes.

My current temptation: http://www.styleforum.net/t/347314/raffaele-caruso-lightweight-unlined-summer-jacket

And it would require minimal tailoring

I think I'm ahead this month, since I returned a couple things that didn't work out. My wife joined the club for a week then decided she needed a new bikini, so call it a wash?

I am in a slightly more unique position than you guys. I don't get to see certain sales every month. I can't even get most things you guys can (not without importt duties dogpiling my package. I broke when I saw something on sale. I'll be matching the purchase with a donation to Wikimedia (55 dollars). Still less than what it would've been full l.

At night, I take sleeping pills. But if my inner resolve were stronger, the lowered inhibitions wouldn't have mattered.

Someone tomorrow remind me to make the donation. I'll be damned if I'm on probation in my own clubn.
