Like what? Do you have any suggestions? I want something somewhat cheap, simple and I can wear dress up with slacks or down with some dark jeans.

They aren't square toed. Also, define "cheap." Regardless, those shoes would not be the way to go (nothing objectionable in the design, but you'll have some serious quality issues...they'll look a couple years old after a few wears).

Also, you'll want brown, not black, if you plan on dressing them down with slacks and jeans. Black shoes generally only work well in the context of a suit.

Those shoes are atrocious. Sorry. If you want shoes made out of rubber and glue then you should buy these, otherwise, cheap is not the way you should go. I'm not a fan of AE but at least their shoes are a significant improvement over the Steve Maddens.

Alright so maybe I should outlined the context first...I just finished my sophomore year at college and have an internship this summer with a Fortune 500. I pretty much just need them for the summer..and by cheap I mean like I'm a college student cheap (50 - 100).

Also, Claghorn..you're right my mistake. I already have a pair of brown shoes that I wear with jeans. I don't know why I said I would wear these with jeans..but looking at it, I'll probably just wear them to work.

^ not even. the shape itself doesn't go well with denim, unless you think wide leg daddy jeans paired with vertical striped shirts are the bomb. can't help you with choices in that price range- but at whatever amount be it a dollar or a thousand dollars, those shoes are just screaming "see you after work at tgi friday's and let's buy them ladies margaritas!"

Just tell the kid what he wants to hear.

They'll work, kid.

They're ugly, but they'll "work". Cheap shoes aren't a terrible idea for youngsters getting used to shoes. You'll beat the **** out of them and one day you'll be able to tell how much better good shoes can be.

So if everyone is saying they're bad and ugly...can anyone give suggestions in the 50 - 100 price range? Or is everyone on here wearing Gucci Horsebit Loafers and such?

I think everyone here wears Allen Edmonds, Aldens, and Carminas with some Edward Greene and G&G thrown in for good measure.

If you want cheap, I'd go with Johnston and Murphy. They, at least, are comfortable.

I agree, if you all you're budgeted for is 50-100, then JM at least has shoes that fall into the aesthetic that is considered appropriate to SF standards. I also saw someone recommend Samuel Windsor. Again, I'm sure the quality of the materials is not great and I have no experience with them personally; but they at least look like proper dress shoes; get the Black Oxford (Captoe) Shoe and they'll be good enough for your purposes.
