Engineered Garments Fall / Winter 2013 - Page 72

It's a freaking beautiful fabric nonetheless, enjoy the suit! (wish I could pull off the pants in socal weather).

The classic shirt has the symmetrical pocket design of the old (better) CPO, collar and sleeve contrast details, buttons rather than snaps (which are easier to replace if they break) and the 12 oz grey wool is a perfect neutral color for a mid layer. I actually prefer the less heavy fabric of the classic shirt because it will work better as a mid layer when it gets colder. I've owned 3 different CPO shirt jackets and sold them all because they just don't work for me as a mid layer piece, and are not warm enough for proper cold weather. Worst of both worlds. Anyways, looking forward to the shirt more as an over shirt than jacket.

and of the ones I owned, I think my favorite CPO was the brown herringbone one from 2010:

This is not only an excellent look but I love what you say and reason through in this post. And, I couldn't agree more. I love the look of the old CPO but I could never get one to fit right and I really dislike the current model.

It never occurred to me to use the Classic Shirt in the same manner but you can bet I'll be giving this a shot.

Well done, alex99.

yeah, i got the shawl collar version during the drinkwaters sale. it's an awesome piece, perfect for a mid layer between a shirt and a parka or as outwear itself. fabric is awesome as well, wish I could have gotten the blazer (baker?) that was offered in the same fabric.

not the best photo, but yeah

I've got the AW12 Truman in Olive. Is that the blazer you're talking about?
yup, that's the one! how do you like it?
Love it. I almost passed it up - felt the tone of the fabric was too uniform from photos I was looking at. Not so, it has a subtle complexity, mostly from texture. The Truman cut is very cool too (the fabric by the mid button is curved, double breast pocket, unique venting system). Pretty warm too for the weight.

Hi guys , just wondering if anyone's picked up an LDT jacket yet and has any for comments? Especially compared to the aw12 lined Bedford?

I want to put lip balm on the Context model guy's lips. So dry :/

Anyways, is Upland Vest meant to be worn inside, or outside of jacket? Sounds stupid I know, but I am asking because those pockets looks like I can actually put things in and carry around.

Was wondering if anyone can help me find a link with info or tell me some more about an older shawl I'm interested in. I'm looking to learn more about the construction of the shawl in this photo. Does anyone know if this is one of the heavier weight shawls or not? I like the colors on this but I also want one that is sturdy and not like a thin cardigan.

That's most likely a blackwatch wool flannel button shawl from the fwk line.

Now that I know the name I'll do a bit of research online. Thank you!

I saw a Japanese retailer online who had the Drivers Jacket in Herringbone Tweed.  Any other stores carry this version?  Any Stateside?

How does the Drivers Jacket fit - I wear the Bedford in L (this season and last) and bought this seasons Bal Coat and NyCo Parka both in M

Thanks

I have that one too, love that fabric, sadly its a bit warm for socal and hardly gets any wear these days (and iirc this was FW09 not 2010).
My current favorite would be this one, although still a bit warm for socal.

I like the fabric on this piece. Which style/name and material is that one?

Considering this didn't get responses, I ended up picking up the grey sweater knit version from Nepenthes NYC (outstanding customer service and responsiveness BTW) and thought I'd share some quick (though crappy) phone pics I took. I'm about 5'8", 150 lbs and this is a size small. Initially, I wasn't sure if I liked the styling on me, but after trying it out with numerous fits and different variations of shawl buttoning style, it's growing on me. What do you guys think?

FW11 navy wool embroidery cpo, its a mid weight loosely woven wool, drapes really nice and breathes very well so not too warm over ls or t, but if you put a vest or light jacket over it, or buttoned with scarf, it gets pretty comfy and warm. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I'd only seen 1 pic of that piece in some fabric where it looked pretty puffy, particularly the collar and sleeves looked thick and poofy but I think that ribbed? fabric on yours doesnt make it look bad though, does the collar look ok folded down or too thick? probably just needs a good overall stretch to smooth out the fabric.
I like that kind of layed back & cozy piece but I keep waiting for the perfect shawl neck cardigan belted robe thing which ideally would hit me lower than that one,,,, I had to resist the long barena cardi on yoox pretty hard just cuz I think that one would be a bit too long.
