Is this a trick question??

You could wear those shoes with pretty much everything except shorts. The construction is top notch and they use a leather which I prefer to Green and Crockett, among others. The seam down the middle will turn off more of the British-type shoe lovers on the forum, but many of the high-end Italian shoe makers use that type of seam on a model or two. Also, the seam is not as visible in person. Buy them now, and while you are at it, buy me a pair. I'll go on record as saying there is no better made $400 shoe.

Chalk me up, also. Different strokes, and all.

I like them. Center seam is different but not too pronounced given the construction.

Very nice for the most part, but I'm not a fan of the ornate welting.

That's the other thing. Italians are really into these huge welts now because they are complicated and take a lot of handwork. That may be so, but a more time-intensive construction doesn't mean it's necessarily better. By and large, I prefer a sleeker shoe with a more closely cut welt, even if it's "easier" to make.

+1.
I'm even particular about how high a split toe Norwegian is split. Even though this particular shoe is skin stitched, it doesn't work for me. Construction is exceptional and, if you like the style, you will be very hard-pressed to find a better pair of shoes for $400.

Yeah, I think that's something that is going to make these shoes look dated in the future. If that same shoe had a single sole and close cut, simple welt, it would be timeless. I just don't associate 'wholecuts' with 'foul weather shoes' so it doesn't make sense to me. It would be like making a Ghillie brogue with a glued dancing sole...

I like them alot, wish I had snagged the only pair of 11s he initially had. These shoes are so verstatile on what you could wear them with and I see alot of value in this. You could wear these with jeans or a suit...they would go with anything.

But don't mind me, I don't care for wholecuts in general.

Doc! Surely not you? Not caring for wholecuts... you have destroyed me!
