Gonna be visiting SF end of August and would appreciate recs for places to visit. Restaurants in particular. Cool restaurants. Currently looking at State bird, Garaje, Mikkeller, Tartine, Blue bottle, maybe Wakuriya.

How upscale are you trying to go? And any preferences/restrictions? SF only?

Might do maybe one $100 prix fixe but the rest would be cheaper than that. No preferences or restrictions at all. SF only as opposed to? We'll be cabbing around so not crazy mobile.

Here's an old list of recs I made before with some edits:

Burgers - a lot of places in SF make good burgers - B Bar (Yerba Buena garden right by Bloomingdale's/Barney's/etc.) is a good outdoors pot, you can order pitchers of various drinks and hang out there in the sun

Pizza - Tony's Pizza Napoletana, Capo's, 00 (although the soft serve and fried chicken might be better than the pizza)

Noodles - Turtle Tower (get the CHICKEN pho), Halu (ramen), Hai Ky Mi Gia (get the DRY duck leg egg noodle or house special or shredded chicken variants, broth comes on the side)

Hot dogs - Slow Dog

Happy Hour - Nihon Whiskey Lounge (tons of whiskey, pretty good food), Coquetta, Absinthe or kinda party places like Tacolicious, Azucar, whatever

Dinner - Zuni Cafe (the roast chicken for 2, order as soon as you are seated it takes forever, devour raw bar and rabbit salad while you wait), Saison (ballerish tasting menu), Zushi Puzzle or Saru Sushi (sushi), Incanto or Cockscomb, 1760, SPQR, Kokkari, Boboquivari's (I don't think SF does steak very well overall), House of Prime Rib, tons of other reqs really depends on what you like

Dessert - Bi-Rite Creamery, Simtten, date spots - Luna Park / Candy Bar / Ghiradelli Square. Golden Gate Bakery for egg tarts

Brunch - Mama's is rightfully famous, or you can pick up pastries at Tartine, Slow Maple is a good option too and you can walk around that area after. The well publicized Thrillist list is pretty solid. SF loves its brunch.

Obviously depending on your tastes I dunno. There's always tourist spots you should goto in off peak times ie Swan Oyster Depot on a weekday morning.
