What I ate last week that I'm craving for now

Katsu Curry rice

My Japanese friend taught me how to eat this with a fresh raw egg, but you have to eat it when it's really hot and you mix everything together so the hot curry will cook the egg a little...so good drool.gif

that's cool. does he still post on isntagram?

I actually don't know how to feel about the pho burger. I was watching some videos by eddie haung and about appropriating food. the pho burger in that sense just seems wrong.

For some reason I feel better about Drew's pho burger with sticky rice as a bun. it makes it seem like any other substitute to your traditional hamburger bun (like when you go to the counter and they have 6 different bun options).

Any recommendations for a hot water brewer? I still boil water on the stove and transfer into a hot water dispenser.

Assuming you mean one of those water boiler/dispensers, stick with the Japanese brands. I use a 3 liter one from Zojirushi.

I also have a Zojirushi water boiler. It is perfect for making tea, FP coffee, and even heating up a brush before I shave.

My girlfriend really likes the new Le Creuset matte collection (coincidentally, finally learned how to pronounce the name of the brand, which is a poor reflection of my decade and a half of French classes), and I got her the 5 qt matte white round Dutch oven. We're making a pot roast in it tonight for dinner, with a bottle of Brancaia Tre Rosso 2010.

Going to be good I think, and if the dutch oven cooks well, might be a good idea to start building up a collection of the matte white Le Creuset in case they discontinue the Matte line.

Went up to new hampshire with some friends on a ski trip. I don't ski so i figured i'd make something with the local cuisine in our condo.

Bought some maple syrup so I figured I'd make fried chicken and pancakes (no waffle maker). Also got some local chorizo that my friend's girlfriend used to make a paella and raw milk she used to make tapioca.

Didn't get the Paella or Tapioca, but here's the Chicken and Pancakes (and Syrup)

It was fucking awesome.
