Thanks a lot, ancient Chinese people.

I'm european and I'm in the same club.

haha not sure if serious. I did eat at a dive deli though and it was pretty bad. Ended up taking a visit to Zingerman's Deli where the food was good but the whole model of seeking the best ingredients, treating employees really well and then telling the story about their suppliers is too precious. Just do all those things and let the results speak for themselves because it ends up feeling like a tourist trap rather than an authentic place to eat.

Restaurant pet peeve: when waiters/resses spend waaay too long describing menu items. I was at a new tapas place downtown recently and the dude proceeded to talk to us about 6-7 different dishes, I think it took me less time to watch the last Game of Thrones season.

Then again my girlfriend loves that personal touch, she often asks them what their favorites are. I think it's just my cranky European side, but it annoys me when they overdo it on the verbal presentation at casual restaurants

If I could be bothered to wake up early enough (and maybe could nap after), I would go for a full English breakfast or Taiwanese style breakfast every day.

Had the same today, sans the agave. Added a few dried berries to top it off.

My father was in Taiwan recently and brought me this package of tea that's meant to be steeped with cold water. I know its nothing new, but I've always steeped with hot water. Just sounds odd to me.

I'm addicted to tangelos. delicious.

also virginia is awesome for local peanuts and apples.

also my new japanese fuzzy logic rice cooker is awesome for breakfasts. put in half a cup of steel cut oats at night, 1.5 cups water, then set timer for 9 am the next morning. perfectly cooked oatmeal. mix in a quarter of a banana, a little bit of skim milk, some brown sugar, salt, vanilla and cinnamon. heaven.
