I am trying to find out if the vintage Ray Ban General frames with the tortoise trim had the same impressions on the temples as the pearl and black versions did; specifically the left temple 'The General' and the right temple '1937-1987'.  The ones I am about to purchase do not have the engravings on the temples but do have all others.  I am being told that the tortoise version 'may not' have had the impressions on the temples.  Would you know one way or the other?

Thanks

Ted

Hi Ted,

as per my knowledge the general 50 years anniversary model came only with the pearl bar. Only that model had the general and 1937 - 1987 inscription on the inside of the temples.

There are deep groove frames with tortoise and black bars with flat temples. Mostly they are the diamond hard models.

Further there is the W1155, they dont have the deep groove frame but do have flat temples. In case youre interested in that model, i have one for sale.

enjoy

Thank you so much!! Mr. RayBan :) they do seem very hard to find though.

Found some green ones on ebay.

Do you know if they were only made in a green lens?

Maybe it's the movie that fooling me, maybe he do have a green pair but they do look black in my opinion.

Because i can't even find a picture on some black ones.

Thanks for your help anyway for finally finding the model name :)

@Didde fasion metals are not produceed as long and as many as the widely spread aviator types.

The ones in youre picture have the standard G15 lenses which are grey green but look almost black when worn. Seems that the model number is in that case W1083.

Other lenses that this model came in at least are RB3 and brown changeables.

enjoy

Hello Musehead.  I'm hoping you can help me.  I have an old pair of Ray Ban's I'm trying to identify.  Probably from the 90's.  There are no longer any visible markings except on each  bow there is "Ray Ban".  The frames are plastic and the lens' are glass.  I think the model was RB4 something.

did you do some research yourself?

theyre just standard wayfarers, can be from around 70 - 90s maybe older.

Put them on ebay and youll find out. my best guess is around $70 - $110

Oh yes sure, research led me here. You know best. Thank you.

@oosterling,

I double checked with a magnifying glass.  The temple markings are wore off.  I did measure them if that helps.  61 x 17 x 30 Thanks.

So i've finally decided to put my  62mm precious metals up on ebay to finance other hobbies.

Great condition overall. Some very light scratches Near the middle lenses that are impossible to photograph. Including original leather case.

My only question is, what should i try to sell them for?

I see a lot of ebayers charging crazy amounts but their glasses are usually in new condition with tags which mine aren't.

Can anyone help me out with a reasonable buy it now price, or at least help me get in the ballpark?

I've bought plenty of stuff on ebay but never sold anything.

Many Thanks!

I am trying to determine age of these aviators. I assume they are between 1960 & 1980. They are marked B & L RAY-BAN USA across the top of the bridge. They are marked B & L 1/20 10K GF on the under side of the the bridge. I would also like to know what the 1/20 mark means. They are a smaller pair of aviators. The size is not marked anywhere on them. My rough measurements are 54[]15. They do not have the BL etched into the lenses, the white "Ray Ban" on the lens or BL on the nose rests.
