The problem is defining "obscure." I mean, is Uriah Heep obscure? Moot the Hoople? Mountain?

SO many - Savoy Brown? Brownsville Station? Crabby Appleton? Montrose? I think Uriah Heep was a Dickens' character confused.gif I remember all those Columbia House Record of the Month clubs would have scads of UH records listed - The Wizard icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif I vaguely recall the band at our 8th grade dance ended w/ Rock 'n Roll Queen - Ian Hunter's a very underrated musician!

Great band - wasn't Lowell George (Little Feat) a member? I remember an early CCAHLPA record w/ the original "Willin" - fiery guitartist Bill Kirchen is still around and kicking

Obscure only in the sense that the heights of Olympus are often enshrouded in clouds! He belongs in the pantheon of all-time greats...

personally -- and this is an opinion for which I am almost universally mocked -- i think jimmie vaughn is a better guitar player than stevie ray. dude defines "tasty".

How about the J. Geils band?

First I look at the purse!

I recently stumbled on a Peter Wolf solo record that is really good, so good that I actually found a magnifying glass to read the credts/liner notes - whoa there, Steve Earle, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, etc., and of course, Magic Dick

Not really obscure, but Glen Jones played this on his show recently

I was a huge AC fan. Think I had all his records in the 80s. Halo of Flies. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

this thread is also a reminder of why some obscure bands are obscure.

pretty hard to say what "obscure" is imo, since I really got to know these groups when they were past their prime... but I like some songs by blue oyster cult, hanoi rocks, slade, misfits, mc5, diamond head...
