Polo shirts

What is everyone's opinion of how a polo shirt should fit with shorts ?

For example, I've got a few polo shirts that fit great in the arms and shoulders, but are somewhat full in the stomach area.  They are of appropriate length.  If I tuck these into slimmer fitting denim jeans or chinos, they look fine, but if I wear them untucked they are sort of billowy.

I'm of the opinion that I can wear these untucked with khaki shorts for a casual look and it will look fine.  Please understand that these shirts fit well for the most part, they are just slightly too full in the body.

If you wear polo shirts, you probably don't have that Christian Dior denim flow. Unless you're playing golf. Then they're allowed. If they are billowy untucked, they'll look just as bad if not worse tucked.

Most major brand polo shirts look awful as they are way to big in the body and way too long. A few brands make slimmer cut polos that look better if you like the polo look. These often also have better collars that have some structure.

Keep it slim and fitting similar to your best fitting tee shirt if you're going to wear one. I wouldn't tuck it in unless you have to (ie. Nice golf course).

Polo makes custom and slim fits... I find them kinda wonky fitting tho.

Kent Wang is recommended a lot but I've never tried one

Edit: this sounded weird. You want the sleeves and body to be slim. Length should be similar or a little longer than a proper fitting tee shirt. You'll know if it fits...

I'll second Kent Wang - it fits great. I took and XL and normally swim in other brands' Large.

If your polo billows out when tucked, it would be great to have it tapered from chest waist.  That would also make it look cleaner when tucked.  We are an SF affiliate partner that specializes in custom fitting polo shirts.  You can check out our affiliate thread VASTRM or just run a search on some other folks that have tried our service.   I would love to see if we can help you get into that perfect fit polo!  Feel free to dm me at jtang at vastrm dot com and we can chat about getting you personally fitted.  Cheers!
