My dress set came yesterday. I don't know if it's ever been used.
I wish vintage dress sets came with four studs.
Read Manton's book for the reason why there are only three, or just buy a bespoke tuxedo shirt that takes only three studs.
Very nice. Talk about mint-in-box!
Those are very nice. Are they made from sterling and m-o-p?
Anyone know anything about hallmarks? I just bought a pair of vintage links that have the hallmark "RE" on them. No other marks. Does anyone know what it means?
Pics?
In case anyone is reading right this second: Any reason I should be suspicious of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150191224717&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=005 ? The seller says they are vintage, but their beautiful condition and lack of bids makes me wonder. Then again, 50 people could bid in the last 2 minutes they are up. cheers, b
Anchor: Birmingham. Lion: Sterling silver (that would be the "lion passant"). Q: Upper case: 1940, 1965 or 1990. Lower case: 1915. JHW: Most probably the maker's mark. Can't remember a match, but I'll look it up tomorrow. Edit: The seller has another pair of enamelled cufflinks with the exact same shape and hallmarks - this would make it likely that they are from 1990. They're lovely - I really like the stylised peacock's feather motif. Bid, man, bid!...hallmarks of an anchor, a lion and a stylised Q.
