I haven't worn it much through the winter and now realize why—it just feels more at home with white linen pants. I think I feel this way because it's a very lightweight fabric and the color is a lighter than typical dark navy. The buttons are currently a matching dark navy (as you'd find on a suit).

For comparison, there are several pics of it from different seasons with different combinations.

My first inclination is white mother of pearl, but perhaps black/smoke MOP or brown horn or something else would make it more versatile and wearable all year and not just in the hot summer. If you have an idea besides one of my poll options, comment with your idea!

I think white MOP will do nothing to improve it's versatility. It'd look great in my opinion, but would lend itself even more to warm weather only.
Smoke MOP would be a great touch.
Brown horn seems the safest choice, but who likes safe?

I chose smoke but maybe gold buttons like the guy's in the WAYWRN thread the other day would work too.

 Cool jacket BTW!

Wish I could find one like it. nod[1].gif

Oh, let me clarify: I'm not necessarily going for versatility here. That's why I'm leaning towards white MOP.

Basically the poll is to see if somebody can convince me not to get white MOP with a convincing argument why something else is a better idea.

My instinct would be to go with enameled buttons, such as are offered by Holland & Sherry or Benson & Clegg. Second choice would be brass. Of the options you mention, smoked MOP.

For by DB blazer, I use large flat silver-colored metal buttons from Tenderbuttons. Tenderbuttons has innumerable buttons, include vintage and unique options.

Go with White MOP! I replaced some black buttons on a navy blazer with them! You can always swap them out for brown in the fall! who says you're limited to only one set.

White. I've no idea if it will look better, but it's what you want.

White, why not? They'll look great, and if you aren't bothered by the fact that you won't really be able to wear it outside of spring and summer, then go for it.

But yeah, don't leave them as is. Those buttons are exceedingly dull to the point where they drag the blazer down.

I recently paired my navy blazer with white MOP buttons with a pair of linen trousers, like you mentioned in your OP. I like the look, personally, and if you don't mind losing some versatility it's nice. Brown horn is the safe option, but if you already have a standard blazer, why not go for white MOP?

Thanks for all the responses so far.

One other reason I've considered white MOP as possibly being excessive is because I currently have a navy linen blazer with white MOP buttons, which I wear all the friggin' time, haha.

Would two navy blazers (however different in style they are) both with white MOP buttons be redundant?
