Received a suit from Black Lapel. Please critique :)

Hi guys,

Been lurking for about 2 months.

I received my Black Lapel suit (navy, slim fit) just yesterday.

Most of the fit seems pretty good (maybe a few modifications here and there), but I would love it if people more knowledgeable than I am can take a look at my picture and critique it (or give suggestions). I'm not entirely used to Slim Fit so having 2nd opinions would be greatly helpful :)

Cheers &

Thanks in advance! :)

Shc

Welcome. The pictures are a little dim to offer much, but the collar fits very poorly in the last one. You may wish to take them again in better lighting and post them in the tailors' thread, which has numerous knowledgable subscribers.

There seems to be a very big gap in the collar between your shirt and the jacket. That may be due to posture, but someone more experienced may be able to discern the reasons.

Also, the sleeves are too long (probably not news) and the jacket looks too short, at least in the back.

Photographs unsuitable for this purpose but collar looks dreadful at the least.

Thanks for the reply. I've edited and updated my pictures (much better lighting) and two pictures of the collar to get a better "sense" of it.

It was a concern for me too.

Sorry for not putting any dress shoes (there are some issues with mine and need to purchase a new one in about 2-3 weeks).
Dress shirt in the new pics are probably a tad' too long (which I'l get into fixing as well).

Pictures were taken 5-6 feet away as recommend by other styleforum users.

Cheers!

the collar is horrific.

the back isn't very clean either, but you could be standing funny.

honestly, that collar is bad enough that the rest is sort of moot.

You are NEVER going to be able to tailor that suit to achieve the Styleforum "ideal" fit.

For all practical purposes (as, in the real world where people actually live), your suit is good enough.

In the internet world your suit is going to be harshly criticized and ripped to pieces.

Wear your suit, read more about classic style and fit, and slowly develop your own style.

dude, sorry, but no way. Even in the real world someone will question why there is that much space around the collar.

Agreed.  That collar is really bad, it's obvious (and not just to an SF-like crowd.)  Send it back.

Thanks for the advise.

Is the collar problem something that would be (easily) fixable with a tailor?

Sometimes, yes. But in your case, judging from these pictures, no.
