I hope it's not too late to join in.

Nope. Well, it's now May 3rd my time, but I'm sure it's still May 2nd where you are, so welcome aboard.

Even were it not, you could still join; you just wouldn't have access to the $100 emergency budget.

I may not be logged in each day through this month but rest assured I will be rock firm. I have no intention whatsoever to spend a dime on anything. I appreciate Clag taking on the burden of helping out . This thread gets my full support.
One suggestion I can make, just for fun, is to buy a dollar store piggy bank. If you see something you want to buy during the month, save a photo of it to your hard drive and drool at that, Then take that amount and put it in the piggy. End of the month comes, and you may be suprised how much is in there. It may seem a tad childish, but it gives you an actual, 'in your hands' pile of money which represents what you saved by staying strong. Good luck to everyone this month. It is a wonderful way to save for summer.

I am tempting over a PRL Light grey silk cable knit half zip jumper. From $200 down to $140 - 25% off. Shipping is $39. Then there is this slim fit PRL Blue and white BD gingham shirt from $100 down to $75 - 25% off. Total bill $200. Which is not so bad !!
How can I get this out of my head ??

Self inflicted junk punch will stave off the impulse temporarily smile.gif

Those are clearly things you don't need. Sales happen all the time. And now that you've enrolled in NPC, well, that's not a 200 dollar bill. That's a 400 dollar bill. 200 for clothes, 200 for charity.

This isn't just your wallet on the line. It's your soul on the line.

I resisted the temptation to buy some Sam Hober pocket squares before the grace period ended yesterday.

I like them, but I don't need them—especially since I'm wearing a suit/jacket far less often these days. Perhaps if I make it through the month, I'll treat myself to one.

In full lockdown mode now.

I wear my current, two-year-old pair of mocs (Mark McNairy for Bass) often, but they're pretty beat up, and the quality is not great. I know I'd get a lot of use out of these, especially since I'm returning to school soon after a few years away and will be dressing more casually.

Second temptation: Nike Air Vortex.

Again, trying to build up the casual shoe rotation before school. I actually bought these today on impulse but am going to return them and sit on the decision for a month. I've been wanting a pair of vintage-style Nikes, but there may be a better model out there. If I still want these in a month, I may re-purchase them.

Well, if it helps, The sneakers are ugly. For me, there are way too many nice actual shoes out there to waste time wearing sneakers.

Noted smile.gif I thought the same about sneakers for a long time but have changed my mind recently. Also, now that I'm headed back to college, I don't want to be the dude wearing loafers and wing tips on campus all the time. But yeah, I don't think this particular pair is great.

I'd steal clear of runners too, I'm partial to Jordan's though as a bball fan.
