Not a fan. I like a clean, plain look. Imagery on a wallet is just tacky, IMO, but I don't mind a small, logo stamped in a corner or something.

What about aging? Do people care about leather that ages, or do you want a wallet that stays looking the same forever?

For example, vegetable tanned leather ages really well, and shell cordovan stays looking the same.

Nothing stays the same forever.

I just ordered a wallet from one of the links in this thread (hasn't come in yet so I'm not going to endorse it until I actually have it). Thought about getting it with a shell outside and a veg inside so the outside would be tough but stay nice looking while the inside would mature, but the quoted price on shell was just too high.

Ended up going with a brown CXL outside and natural veg inside. The CXL boots I have stay looking relatively similar with proper care so I expect it will not look too different over time except for lightening at the fold....the inside should evolve more while the outside stays presentable.

I might be able to add to this discussion, as a wallet and leather goods maker.
I personally hate fabrics of any kind in wallets. While I can appreciate fine fabrics like silk, I don't think they have a place in a wallet that one considers anything other than disposable.
My experience is that fabrics are the first thing to go, and that all-leather construction is preferable. A wallet in your back pocket for years goes through quite a bit of wear and tear. A breast pocket wallet might be able to get away with more delicate materials and construction, as it will likely not be sat upon regularly. Looking at how the wallet will be used and treated is important before buying!

What I'm looking for depends on how I'll use it.  If wearing more casual clothing (no jacket), then I'd prefer something minimal like the wallet I have.  I just carry a few cards and a little cash.  When wearing suits or jackets I'd prefer a breast pocket wallet, mostly because I like the look, not because I actually need the extra space.  I'd prefer burgundy, tan, or some antiqued brown...not a huge fan of black wallets.

i gotta throw in for chester mox too, they recently had a free personalization and shipping promo, so i ordered a dogleg wallet case and a keychain in CXL oxblood with my intials on both. I received them yesterday and I gotta say they are both really great. The oxblood leather is really cool and the construction is great for the price. And the engraving looks slick so im very happy. They also packaged both products in these cool fancy boxes, i can post some pictures if people are interested.

The wallet is slim and easily fits in my front pocket with some cash and a few credit cards.

Get a big quality leather wallet that could fulfill all your daily needs and few sleek designer linen or leather wallets for other occasions. This is my favorite wallet.Handles all my cards, tickets and even passport while travelling... Have been using it from the last 3 years and it worth every penny...
