Tyson Chandler is the new Ben Wallace! Not exactly, but; the irony is too good not to consider it.

THANK YOU JASON KIDD.

And damn it, Dallas needs a better person in the paint. Dampier just makes me want to stab someone.

PS: LOL @ Philly laying the smackdown.

EDIT: The Jet was great tonight. It just feels like everything is finally coming together.

Bad form, Dampier. It's one thing to shove someone around and throw some hard fouls when you're losing a game, but when the game's over and you've won? Bad form. Other than that, great effort from the Mavs. I'm eager to see how the Hornets (and Paul in particular) adjust.

And PHILADELPHIA WHAT?!

Hell yes.

I agree. It was definitely bad sportsmanship at the end, it was clearly over. Damn you Dampier, you're the black stain on my team.

Ironically, my three 'hometown's are LA, Dallas and Philly and all of them are in the playoffs and doing fairly well. I guess Dallas isn't, but they might be on the turn around. Hell yeahhhhhhhhhhh. I'm sure I'll have someone to cheer for the whole way through.

I was also surprised by the stats on teams who come back from 2-0 series starts (in best of 7). 93% of teams with 2-0 starts end up winning the series, that's a ridiculous number.

Spurs have came out of the gates blazing hot tonight, Tony Parker... you beast.

I'd like to say, for the record, that the problem with the Suns/Spurs series is that it contains two things I absolutely despise:

1) Hack-a-Shaq. This is just LAME. Can we please change the rules on this already? It's one thing to purposefully foul a guy who's taking a shot to make him earn them at the line. It's another to intentionally foul him miles away from the ball. And it makes for a horrible viewing experience as a fan. Just let the team decide which of its players gets to shoot the foul shots if the foul is away from the ball. Or call it a flagrant or something. There are a million ways to fix this problem.

2) Jeff Van Gundy is a godawful announcer. I want to slap him. I can't imagine playing for this guy, he's a massive douche.

Sauce, we're usually in agreement on B-Ball, but do you seriously think Van Gundy sucks that much at commentating? I've found him to be hilarious, and somewhat truthful....and I wasn't even a fan of his coaching.

P.S. What has gotten into the 76'ers (2-1).

I was at the game tonight and my only complaint with the Dampier foul is that it came a game to a game and a half too late. It was time someone stepped up and made a statement on the Mavs after Game 1. If Damp gets suspended (he won't...it wasn't that bad) it won't be a huge loss.

My take is: Hallelujah! Avery finally quit overthinking the strategy, put his best players on the floor, didn't try to out-coach Byron Scott and let his players play and the best team won. NO will have no answer for the Kidd/Terry backcourt. Terry brought energy that Stackhouse just can't at this point in his career. NO will certainly adjust, but they don't have the talent to match up with the Mavs if Avery will just let the team play. To wit:

Paul vs. Kidd--Advantage NO
Terry vs. Peterson--Advantage Dallas
Chandler vs. Dampier--Push
Nowitzki vs. West--Big Advantage Dallas
Howard vs. Stojakavic--Huge Advantage Dallas

Bench--Enormous Advantage Dallas

If Avery will get out of the way Dallas can still win this series because they have a better team.

I'd say that:
Chandler - Dampier is advantange NO
Nowitzki - West is very small advantage Dallas, and that's debatable night to night
Paul - Kidd is at least as big an advantage to NO as any other matchup on the floor

He's just simultaneously ornery and... not quite stupid, but sometimes a bit slow. That combination bugs me to no end. Like the other day when he just couldn't grasp the whole "pound for pound" concept. I still don't think he understands it. I guess not everyone can be Chick Hearn, though.

The Sixers... wow.

In game 1 they hustled until they gained a tiny edge and didn't let go; this time they just pounded them.

Mark from Plano, I definitely don't think that Dampier's foul was suspension-worthy (not even close), but no one likes a sore winner.

I was going to post these exact points, but then I scrolled down, so thank you for saving me the trouble.

no way dampier will get suspended. if brendon hayward didnt get suspended, there is no way that dampier will get the suspension.

haha funny story, my friend went to hang out in georgetown in dc on thursday night. she went there and damon jones and lebron james were there buying people drinks at the bar. she goes up to them and goes "shouldnt you guys be practicing." they reply, "we dont need to practice, we are playing the wizards."

btw im with southern-nupe, i kind of like van gundy's commentary. i think he can be pretty funny.

I reserve the right to pretend that someone else hijacked my account and wrote this if Ginobli goes nuts, Shaq and Amare get into foul trouble too often to be effective, and Tim Duncan does his Tim Duncan thing, though.

And the Spurs are old; the Spurs traditionally have been able to win by playing mostly a suffocating defensive style that can, on occasion, morph into a frenetic fastbreak style headed by Parker and Ginobili. They seem to be missing that extra gear this year, for one thing, and for another their interior defense is weaker this year than ever. (Kurt Thomas is good against opposing big men, but he's not a good interior defender per se; Elson was at least tall and long.)
