Brooks Brothers' Gatsby Collection - Page 7

My bro bought me the Gatsby BB stripe tie. I don't have any classic BB stripe ties, and I like this shade of maroon better than their typical one.
Wore it yesterday.

I tried on that green cardigan sweater, unimpressed with the quality and cut. It looked rather poorly made compared to the other cardigan I have from BB. Granted, it was more than twice the cost of the gatsby version, but still, for $200 or whatever it was I would have expected better. I liked the lapels on the tuxedo - very high gorge and nice shape. They also had some great looking pants, but the price didn't make sense to me.

Yesterday my wife got me the Brown/Red/White Lattice bow tie... last one in the store and they had to take it off the mannequin. It's sold out online. SA said the Gatsby stuff is really moving. The movie also outperformed predictions in its opening weekend.

I bought one too. I absolutely love it! Very classy. It is worn by Nick as a bowtie in the movie.

Looks sharp. I bought the bow tie version. It's my first bow tie. I've tried tying it a million times using guides and online tutorials. I just can't seem to get it. Plus it is rectangular at the ends and not "fish" shaped like the bow ties used in the demonstrations.

+1. Magnificent combo! Please x-post this pic to the "Whnay's Good taste Thread."

I'm not sure about the "Gatsby Collection," but I thought the DiCaprio's suits fit very well. There were a few instances of collar gap, but a less critical eye wouldn't notice or care. Even compared to some of the top fit pictures here, I think that his suits fit well. Considering that all of the examples here have the benefit of being meticulously selected still photos, I think that's a success.

I seem to collect No1 striped ties. That one is very nice, a darker red than the stock item, which I find slightly too crimson. There is also from memory a brown/soft gold/cream-white one that I have my eye on. Whatever one thinks of the whole collection, there are definitely some interesting items in it.

The Robert Redford version of the film was "dressed" by Ralph Lauren.

Anyone know who makes the shoes in this collection? Considering getting the spectator loafers with the semi-annual, thusly: http://www.brooksbrothers.com/The-Great-Gatsby-Collection-White-and-Brown-Spectator-Loafer/MH00323,default,pd.html?dwvar_MH00323_Color=WHIT&contentpos=3&cgid=0522

Thanks for the info. That was my suspicion, but it's been a minute since I've been studying heel patterns.

Decided to go with some G&G loafers instead for the same price, though in a bit more plain style.

I grabbed a few ties from the Gatsby collection. Very nice overall although Brooks' ties do not have the best construction. They cannot compare to the Zegna, Brioni and Canali's I have that virtually tie themselves. Anyway, anyone pick up on Brooks Brother's new "Artisan" line? I was in their Washington DC store yesterday and noticed some new sport coats, shirts and sweaters. Very nice brown wool/silk sport coat made in Italy with leather behind the collar and a price point of $1100, same as the full retail 1818 suits. Just curious to know if anyone can tell me where they are made or can comment on the quality?

Of note, their website does not list the "artisan" that is on the label. They are only cut in regular sizes and do not follow the usual naming conventions, no Fitzgerald, Madison, etc.

Okay so I guess these are not called Artisan but Brooks Brothers Natural Construction. Nice stuff overall.

Oops, Natural Craftsmanship.
