Tricep too big for Bespoke Suit?

Hello,
Let me start off by saying I have learned a lot from this forum in regards to bespoke suits and fashion in general and I thank you in advance for your assistance
Issue: I am getting a bespoke suit for my wedding reception and went for an initial fitting today ( just general measurements). I am pretty muscular with a 40" chest and a 32" waist with broad shoulders. My issue is the TRICEP. The tailor informed me that the narrow sleeve on my arm will "show some muscle" because my tricep is large. He said either we can extend the shoulder pad, which I think will make me look even broader, or just leave it and have a little muscle protruding . Is there a fix for this issue? Perhaps something to do with shoulder expression?
Thanks in advance

Am I correct in assuming you are getting one of these currently fashionable ultra-skinny suits? Perhaps if you went for a more classic look this problem wouldn't come up. I have a 48-inch chest and 37-inch waist, have been an "iron man" most of my life, and I have never had this problem with ready-to-wear, much less bespoke tailoring. I mean, if Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has, I'm sure, much bigger arms than either of us, can look great in tailored garments, this shouldn't be a problem.

+1. If your suit is bespoke, this shouldn't be an issue at all.

OP, your tailor should have offered you the option of enlarging the sleeve. The fact that he instead offered to extend the shoulder pad leads me to wonder whether you are in fact dealing with a bespoke tailor. Surely he can enlarge the sleeves; failing that, he could remake them. Perhaps the tailor is in fact MTM?

That's the problem with bespoke, they can't really adjust anything to fit your specifications.

It sounds like you are talking about Made-to-Measure or custom, not bespoke. If this was bespoke, there would be no issue.

That is nonsense, with bespoke that is exactly what is done - a pattern drafted to your precise measurements and the foibles of your body. It is MTM which can be more problematical as a standard block pattern requires change and the salesman may well not know how to request this of the factory or it might not be possible.

The OP is confused as to the service he is buying and should reject the suit and start again somewhere else better capable of fitting him. I am surprised that he did not learn this from having read this Forum as he claims.

I was being tongue-in-cheek. I agree, Mr. Tricep's tailor should be doing better.

Interestingly I was incvolved with making a suit for Arnold. We had real trouble with the armhole because of his lats in particular. A regular close armhole was impossible for him but the suit looked great and was well received. Someone like him would just "break" any made to measure system I have seen.
