just ordered an Akubra Stylemaster in acorn. Not yet sure I'm a fedora guy, but going to give it a shot. I put it at 50/50 this thing will be for sale by Feb.

You would greatly increase the odds of finding a hat that looks good on you if you visited a hat shop in your area and tried on a bunch of hats. Being in LA, you have a few shops including Barons. Buying online is fine if you know the exact hat dimentions you require, otherwise it's a crapshoot. As an aside, I hear Akruba is very good hat in quality and value. So you got dat goin' for ya...wink.gif

upr_crust, I've seen many of your photos in the HOF thread and you look your best wearing a hat, very attractive. One detail in attire, texture, or shade of color can greatly increase the beauty/handsomeness of the wearer. For some people what makes their appearance attractive is subtle colors in a tweed country jacket that marries a shirt, trousers, and vest that otherwise wouldn't Blend. In your case a hat conveys to me warmth, wisdom, and great interest.

It's not in any pictures in this thread but I like the library behind you in many of your HOF pictures. I imagine fascinating conversations at dinner parties that run into the morning hours, as interesting as any characters in Sun Also Rises.

Thank you for your very kind words. With hats, I've tried to make a virtue out of what in the winter is an absolute necessity, Fortunately, it seems that I am able to carry off the wearing of a proper hat.

Thank you also for the kind words in re: my library. I should make a few additions to my book collection - catalogues to some of the exhibitions that I saw in London last month (the Moroni at the Royal Academy, and the Rembrandt - Late Works at the National Gallery).

store i ordered my Stylemaster from could not deliver it in time for my vacation, so i replaced it with a Borsalino sisal straw. it fits a touch snug on my oval head so i'm contemplating stretching it. would love any thoughts on the shape for my face to see if it's worth keeping.
