You can get Akubra in Imperial felt and also the Heritage felt from the Australian firm hatsdirect.com which is the closest rabbit to beaver quality. The difference is like USD60 but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Imperial for the money.

meister: we were actually talking about panamas at that point (hence the 'weave'). but I'm sure the pointer will be useful for someone. I've never seen an Akubra myself...they don't seem to make it to these parts.
