If you haven't read it already, be sure to check out Derek's (Dieworkwear) post on the story of his Lock & Co trilby.

Will of A Suitable Wardrobe has a lot of interesting things to say about hats. Here is just one of his columns:

Yeah...I like hats. Fedoras are all either Robert Hall (from Montreal) or Brixton (wool felt beaters), homburg is a vintage number by "The Leader", panama is from Pachacuti (who I recommend).

Additional rules...

Once it's on you head leave it alone. Young guys have a tendency to keep fucking with it.

Where to wear - outside good: inside bad.

Alden had a pretty good video on how to wear a hat.

holy cow, that is a hat and a half. edit: and lefty, yeah, especially take it off when you're sitting in a damn restaurant - you look ridiculous sitting there at the table with your hat on, as if you're ready to make a run for it without paying at any moment. Now, the tricky part is the grey areas. Is an outdoor patio at a restaurant hat-on or hat-off territory? Especially where you can be seen from the street? What about cafes at train stations? Ah, the subtleties of hat etiquette...I've never found a really good written reference, does anyone have one?

As an aside, can anyone tell me what kind of hat The Edge was wearing around the Josua Tree era?

It looks like an unbashed fedora with a round, symmetrical brim... I asked on the Fedora Lounge with no real consensus... I may have asked here a while back as well, I'm not sure, but I don't think anyone could really ID it.
