Did some have to pay double customs/taxes for their shipment, first while ordering and then when the shipment arrived in the destination country? If that is the case I will let the shipment bounce back and want a refund as I find this totally unacceptable.

Well I just re-read JE's website for International customers, so it looks like all Customs, Duties, Taxes, Brokerage fees will be taken care of upon delivery of the package.

My main issue is the same as yours. I only have one tracking number and it is routed to KY. Are we supposed to get a second tracking number automatically after our package is delivered to this hub? Right now I have no tracking number for Canada.

Brandi has just told me that UPS can't change delivery addresses for International Orders. I hope this isn't the case, as I stated before I have no way of receiving my package if they send it to the wrong address.

I don't understand why it's so hard to send it to my shipping address and not billing address. You would think at this point some of this stuff is automated. The labels at the very least must be printed automatically at the shipping address.

I just received a Canada Post e-mail with an updated tracking # that Pitney Bowes generated.  You should get one soon too.

They will ship to your Ship-to address as I also have a different billing address and they didn't mix the two up.

By the looks of it (and depending how long it takes to receive the package) the new process doesn't seem AS bad as we made it out to be.  We just have to be notified properly on how our packages are being handled.

Not getting a Pitney Bowes order # that doesn't work at all, then a UPS tracking that doesn't have our address then a week later finally seeing the final tracking # with our address.

Can you clarify on the billing address? When I received my confirmation with Pitney's, it had my Billing Address as my Shipping Address. Did you have the same mix up and it got self-corrected when you got your Canada Post tracking number?

Actually I am even more frustrated after what you had told me.

John Elliot sends their package to Pitney's Kansas City via UPS Ground. That takes 1 week.

Pitney's uses USPS to send the package to Canada. That will take another 1-2 weeks.

So at the end of the day, they still use USPS!!!

So why wouldn't I just pay John Elliot directly to use USPS to ship to Canada? That is an unnecessary middle man.

I essentially paid $100 to cover Brokerage, Custom, Duties, and Taxes which totaled 20% of my order. That would have only cost $20 to do with USPS if John Elliot did it themselves. So $80 extra at the end of the day and they still use USPS.. Pre-paying customs/duties/brokerages only makes sense if they were using UPS/FedEx/DHL to ship my order from the US.

The end result being Canada Post makes this whole situation laughable.

Not sure which Pitney Bowes confirmation you received; if it was the one on behalf of JE with the shipping confirmation then yeah it's probably going to your billing address if that's what it stated.  I didn't get any notifications from PB directly.

They'll fix it for sure; they had no idea how the process worked as I was told by C/S the UPS tracking number gets "recycled" and used to ship to Canada, which obviously isn't the case.

I know I've been making shipping a big deal, I just wanted to ensure JE is hearing it loud and clear from their customers. Small businesses trying to scale their businesses, there's going to be kinks and rough patches. I get that.

Ultimately I like John Elliot as I see it as a more polished version of Wings and Horns which I think has been on the decline in recent years.

I've seen the interviews with JE, I like his aesthetic and what he's trying to do with the brand. I think he's really pushing aggressive and modern cuts into every day essentials. And ultimately this is a brand I want to support.

I think most shopify stores only ship to your billing address. The way to get around it is add another address to PayPal account. They ship to billing address only because there is too much fraud and risk on JE end to send it to non billing address. Again if you need it ship to somewhere else, add that address to your PayPal account.

John Elliott actuslly does send products to a shipping address that is different from the billing address. That's what I do.

Being a Canadian who lives around 20 minutes away from the border. I got all my us orders shipped to my mailing address in USA to save duty and shipping. I don't even declare the stuff when I cross the border back into Canada

That's exactly what I did. I have multiple PayPal confirmed addresses as I live in different properties.

I always ship to my Condo as I have 24 hour concierge who will sign all packages when I'm not home.

But now that it looks like it's Canada Post, it doesn't matter. I'll just pick it up at the post office.

If it was UPS I would be screwed. FedEx and DHL have weekend and extended hours, so that wouldn't have been an issue either.

I am also having problems with the shipping to Canada

Anyone from Canada that has received their JE package?

Currently my package has been delivered to Pitney Bowes, but now what ?

It got delivered on Tuesday, and i still do not have another tracking number.

Hey guys, I just want to let you know, loud and clear, that we hear you on the Canada shipping issues and will be changing our system accordingly, soon. We are obviously in the business of treating our customers well - customer service has always been very important to us. Rest assured, you will get your packages.

Pitney Bowes was never supposed to send the tracking to Kentucky, which created confusion for many customers. You should have received tracking once it left their sorting facility.

To clarify taxes & duties - you are not charged duties. Our clothing is made in the USA, and therefore you are exempt through NAFTA. You are, however, supposed to pay taxes on imports. International shipping is a tricky thing. If we simply charge the shipping fee up front, and customers are hit with taxes they were not expecting (which has happened numerous times), there is sticker shock on the unexpected added expense on delivery. In our attempt to make these charges clear up front, we have learned that many Canadians are lucky enough to avoid taxes entirely.

We hope to move to a system soon, at least for Canada, that will allow you to order with a standard shipping fee and be responsible on your end for any taxes you may or may not incur.
