Damn. The highs and boots are SICK. Good job! I still haven't had a chance to look through all the runway pictures. But the stuff looks soooo nice

A lot of it seems like oh I liked this from another brand so I'll make it. Which may not be the case. But just my thoughts

I think overall he did a really great job, but I can see what you're saying about the influences from other brands. A lot of it reminds me of takes on Saint Laurent (the shoulder details on the bombers), the straps on the jackets (stampd), the flannel puffers (moncler), the low tops (vans), etc. I think he did a good job of re-imagining them though.

Not sure what size you are but the JE site has the boucle sweats in S and M. Revolve has them in XL. Roden gray has M,L, XL

I agree. But there's a difference between not liking something and questioning the authenticity of it.

JE site only has them in grey, he may have wanted the black.

"JE-esque" is whatever JE wants to be.  We cannot say the new pieces are not "JE-Esque" as they came directly from JE the man himself.

There's a few things I like in there, most of it I am unsure of but I still like that he's trying to do some different things.  Will wait patiently for the lookbook photos.

I don't get you, man. All good though, like I said there's stuff in here for fans of both classic and newer JE, I just feel like you're not understanding John's vision for the brand.

I'm not questioning the authenticity. It's clear as day some (or a lot) scream not JE tho. I'm not gonna lie to myself just cause I love JE so much and been purchasing since the tag on the shirts said made in Los Angeles.

By having no expectations means I'm going into their with a clear mind and I didn't make up some weird collection in my head already of what I want him to make. I want and like evolutions!! I can see it in some of the pieces like. Some of them though it's just like nah, john just made that so he wouldn't have to rock another brand.

But it is just my opinion. Not asking you to understand it or agree. Just want to be clear.

But like you said I'm not john and I'm not a designer so yeah I don't understand his vision or anyone else.

Sorry I'm lost in the sauce.

Hopefully when this drops in summer I'll be clear and buy everything.

it's all good bro, I feel the same way about a lot of the stuff (some of it I actually think is ugly) and some of it I am questioning BUT WHY? So I would agree with you on initial thoughts about the collection.

At the same time, I am keeping an open mind and am happy to see John branching out.  But there is a difference - nearly everything he has produced up to this point I have looked at it and said FIRE + and literally the entire johnelliott.co website I can vibe with mostly all of it.  Some of this new stuff, nah, but that's perfectly OK.  My bank account could use a little rest regardless since I've spent thousands since FW 15.

Some of the stuff looks pretty influenced by other designers, but it's a very good collection, probably his best and on par with other designers' stuff that costs twice as much. The pinkeye is freaking me out a bit though. And should we expect any kake mocks to come out as part of s/s 16 or will they all be f/w 16?
Just got my Sage Kake Mock in. Easily my favourite JE piece. The fit is fantastic.

Also, here's an updated fit on the SS henley. 5'10 - 11, 140, size medium. Brought it to my tailor to have it hemmed 3.5". Extremely happy with it now that it's an acceptable standalone piece.

I've worn and washed it three times now and it just seems to be fading to a lighter grey all over.

Denim just came in. Spring is on the left. My slp pair on the right. All in all they fit like slp.

Denim quality is pretty nice. I don't notice as much stretch as the slp but it's better than before.

My knee blowouts line up pretty well ( I have long legs for my height though). I don't really like the wash of the blowouts as much though. Wish it was lighter and not 2 tone.

All in all most of you will be happy with them.

Are you really expecting him to not branch out into more intricate pieces and materials now that he has the means and support in order to successfully develop full wardrobes? I'm so excited for John and what he's been churning out, it's almost as if you so-called JE stans and supporters are pigeonholing him to his season four-era collections.

Maybe you need to take a second look, because the slim, minimalist pieces that JE is known for are still very well and present in FW16, while also expanding to a broader, new look that all should have been expected to see from a growing designer.
