If we're judging by their selection, we should be saying that weird pastel bowties and cummerbunds are acceptable with black tie as well. The fact that retailers get away with selling something does not mean that it is correct or that it should be worn. The reality is that most people will not give a damn if your tuxedo has notch lapels or a vent. The majority of people probably don't even know that a tuxedo is only supposed to have one button. OP could get away with wearing that tuxedo as is in all likelihood but it would not be the best look.

Personally, I do not think that Trad principles should be mixed into formalwear. It seems somewhat incongruous to me. If you're a Trad enthusiast and you want Trad features on all of your clothes as a personal style point, fine, but the average person is not a Trad enthusiast and will probably look better with more classically correct details.

The RL suit is quite stylish in its own way and seems like a bargain. It's length might date, however, and I'd question the pockets and vents, too.

I only referenced them because they are " Echt- Ivy". Even my wardrobe departs from their look.
