The good thing is you are very over weight, which means a disciplined diet and rigorous exercise regime will deliver fast results.

Don't worry about crappy diets like Atkins. All the stuff you read about diets dropping out carbs is bull crap. Look at Asia. We eat carbs during every meal. What these low-carb diets do is set you up for a huge carb craving... your body needs it and you will binge like no other.

How hard is it to lose weight? Two things:

1) Eat three square meals per day - absolutely no snacking. If you do, you are letting go of discipline. The six small meals a day is crap too. You do that and I guarantee you will be consuming 150% more calories than you would with 3 meals.

2) Exercise 5 times per week and on the two rest days go for brisk walks around the park. Focus on moves such as squats, step-ups, bench press, row, shoulder presses, cleans... For cardio, do running and aim to burn at least 500 calories per hour. I would probably go for three days lifting and two days cardio.

Apologies for sounding like a Douche

I kind of agree on the 6 small meals thing. Why, what do you think of it?

To me it sounds like another idea for fat people. I've seen the suggested meals for these types of plans many times, and it honestly makes someone sound like an animal more than a human. Handful of nuts, 2 cups cottage cheese, apple with peanut butter... fuck that. It's too hard to plan, puts you out of sync with the rest of the world, and it fucking sucks.

Not really. Tissues will uptake carbohydrates more, but this doesn't have an effect on appetite. Usually, appetite is suppressed on a low-carbohydrate diet.

It's dumb, pointless, and just exacerbates the problem of people that have no taste and -- like you said -- graze like livestock. The body regulates itself very well. Specialized nutrition is really only necessary for the upper tiers of athletes and even then, often only for competitions. People with weight issues generally have bad eating habits, and I say 'habit' in its strictest meaning: they never really have meals where they sit down and enjoy the food, everything is usually just slopped onto the plate and subsequently slopped into their mouths (many people have realized the plate is an unnecessary formality and eat directly out of food containers), they eat at random times, etc. These are the vulgarians that drink Bud Light, eat at Olive Garden, and are upset when a restaurant makes them wait betwen courses.

Shake Weight.

Atkins works because it makes it easy to cut out a lot of calories fast. If you eat lean meats and little else you will typically get your calories down to a weight loss level. It's not something for the long term, but good for a quick jump start on your diet.

It's not a lifestyle change.

It really does not matter when you get your calories. A calorie is a calorie. Eating 6 small meals vs 3 medium ones won't cause you to loose anymore weight if they have the same total daily calories.

Find me someone who is trying to control their diet and is able to come up with 6 small meals with the same calories as those you can find in three moderate meals!

Discipline is the key. It's hard and it takes time to deliver results. The only reassuring thing is the further away you are from your ideal weight, the quicker your rate of weight loss will be.

And don't cut carbs from your diet... you will be fluctuating your weight like a yo-yo due to cravings. Have you people ever heard of balanced diets. Look at your typical Asian meal... they each have rice, vegetables and a bit of meat. You get what's good, right?

Also observe more Westernised countries such as Singapore... they have adopted high protein + low-carb diets along with their sedentary lifestyles and what's the result? They are a nation of soft people with love handles having out everywhere. Not even solid fat... just sloppy, low quality festering fatness.

Korea would be a good example of good diet.
