Had a first visit to Marquess today. What a pleasant experience and wonderful gent who worked for various shoe makers in England.

Now for the long wait...

^^^Yeah, great shoes, great people! What did you order?

A plain black toe cap oxford, in Marquess round. As with suits, its tempting to be adventurous when presented with such a range of samples, but I`m sticking to the classics. A buckskin and tan spectator was tempting though, and he did mention he can source some incredible reptile skins, but I got declined for my next movie role, and my next trip to Cote d`Azure is not yet planned :bounce2:

Nice. Hehe, yeah I always go with the classics, almost at least. Did a bit of a crazy thing (for me) with my latest pair from Melker Shoes and had a Bestetti shoe that wasn't standard pattern (althogh still a brown oxford), but otherwise it's just versions of the basic models I've been going with for all my semi bespoke/MTM or bespoke orders.

Roaming the net (as one does if one got nothing better to do) I've just come across Tetsuya Sirakashi
who seems to be the most amazing boot maker, signing his work with the brand icon: a fly

On his webpage

http://www.shirakashi.jp/index.html

he presents five versions of a derby boot from 'fly weight' (dress shoe weight) to 'heavy weight'.
The images rotate and he specifies every detail of the individual construction.

I don't think Shirakashi has been mentioned in this thread before and he really deserves to be represented here.

I met with Hiro Yanagimachi and his pattern maker Ms. Egawa today. Very pleasant people, and amazing shoes. I have been following them closely online for a while now and was very glad to finally meet them. I have seen a couple of Japanese RTW makers and their products but this was of course in a different league. Will post a few pictures soon.

Any chance of adding them to your lineup?  Their work is definitely fantastic.

Unfortunately they do not produce RTW but if they did they would definitely be considered!

Darn!

I'm very looking forward to next summer, I have a trip to Tokyo planned and dropping in their shop to get sized and make an order is on the top of my to-do list. :)
