Japanese Shoes: Bespoke & RTW Super Thread - Page 183

Just received my test shoes from Marquess. A few adjustment and the fit will be perfect. Still considering a few details.

Will upload a couple soon. The toe is not done yet though. Won't be black like test shoes either. Fit is great, but might be a bit too roomy over the vamp. Will have to get that trimmed a little.

The current toe really is brute. This fitting shoe looks like a normal vass shoe, and in that aspect I find it quite amazing.

That sole`s shape is lovely indeed. Is that a Classic round toe? I assume the last is `twisted` in an English way?

If I recall right, the fitting shoe is complete with shanks, heel, stiffeners, leather sole etc... Might as well keep them as an extra pair (and spare them from being cut up) smile.gif

Thanks NC and ThinkDerm

It will be a Marquess Round Toe, but he did not put much work to the toe on the trial pair. I like the waist a lot too, and the comfort is immense

I have to say, I was a bit underwhelmed by Isetan this time. Only a few EGs, and not much else in the prestige section at all.

I did manage to load up on Borrelli shirts though, so I can't complain!

Also my damn camera broke, so I have no pics to offer, even frown.gif

That's excellent news - I'm glad that you found some Borrelli that fit you.

That's decidedly not excellent news!

The entire list of brands on sale is available on their website (thankfully in English)

I was there on 16 July and I didn't know it's clearance sale until I read this post. The place was crowded and people buy like there is No tomorrow. Very long queue at the cash register.

The shoes floor is crazily packed, but do no harm despite the sale, they are of the same regular price of shoes in Europe (e.g. c&j is around £300 a pair after sale) but there are models which u won't normally see in other parts of the world.

This thread is a veritable feats for shoe lovers because it has moved past mere shoemaking.

The artisans exemplify the art of shoemaking as it used to be practised widely but now is mainly the preserve of bespoke shuhmeisters.

My good friend and shoeshiner extraordinary Ken Shibata has recently opened up his own shoeshine business called `Polish Made`
The `store` is actually a concession located inside a tailor shop `Yoshida Suits`, a set up similar to what Mr. FitzPatrick had at G&H London.

Seems like the bulk of their business comes from mail-in shoeshine orders (from all over the country), which is remarkable.
Ken-san is on location on Mon, Wed, and Fri. for walk in clients.

Located near the recently opened landmark Toranomon Hills
