Wanted to share my latest acquisition of Sanyo Yamacho MTO which I had picked up in Tokyo. It's no spigola or il quadrifiglio by any means, but still quite pleased with the outcome. Finishing is top notch and the leather very very supple!

As I will be travelling to Japan quite frequently (bi monthly) with my new assignment, I do plan to visit many of the Japanese shoemakers

Lovely shoes, Very dandy model. Complements

The colour of those is mind blowing - usually found only on American vintage shoes.

But the actual design shows just how clever and cutting edge the Japanese cordwainers are at the moment. IMO

Thanks guys!!!

To be very honest - I take care of this particular pair much more so than my pair of deco GGs.  For the simple reason that acquiring them was so difficult (they don't deliver outside of Japan.)  This will of course change as I will be traveling there very frequently on business with my new assignment.

This thread is really really addictive.  I didn't realize I just spent the last hour or so reading every page & taking down notes for my trip next month.  It's like a one-stop thread for anything related to Japanese shoes.  I really want to thank NC for starting this thread!!!

I went through the whole thread once before (for compiling the big link on my signature bar), and it is not a simple task. I commend you for the effort! biggrin.gif

CROSS POST FROM THE BESPOKE SHOE THREAD

First Fitting with Masaru OKuyama

Mr. O had chosen to make a simple oxford for the first fitting. I will have the real wholecut design for fitting next time.

At present, he has a good amount of work to do. Lots of areas need to be skied out.

That's a strong tapering last. How's the fit around the toe area? Did he cut the shoes open at the end or he just marks them after observation?

Do you have very wide feet? Test shoe looks wide across the ball of the foot

Seriously awesome thread. My friend is going to Japan this summer and I was considering having him pick up some RTW shoes that were in the Men Ex that was posted. I don't know if that is a good idea though in terms of getting the right fit and the fact that he doesn't even know how to speak japanese.

Probably a bit risky biggrin.gif

I believe most fine Japanese RTW shoes go in English sizes. You can also tell your size in an English brand for reference. Though beware that most Japanese brands` size selection usually tops out at UK 9.
