I really like this one, and intend to have a maker copy it soon in a darker brown leather:

I like that design ET.
It has a jugendstil feel on it. I cant describe it better.

Has any owned both Pap and SAB goods? I have been coveting the SAB for awhile now but am not sure if it is worth the premium over the Pap.

I don't know what the difference btw SAB and Papworth is, frankly. The styles are a tad different and Papworth is a bit cheaper, but it's hard to penetrate their marketing otherwise. Time was they were trying to differentiate the two lines (which were and may still be under the same ownership) as SAB being hand-stitched and made-to-order and Papworth being ready-made and stitched by machine to otherwise the same quality. However, I don't know if that's true, frankly. And SAB offers some machine-stitched products. I believe I also read that at one point the owners were trying to use the Papworth facilities for subcontracting work for other labels as they had extra capacity, but I don't know how far that went either.

I don't think there's a huge difference between SAB and Papworth. I'd get whatever you prefer.

I've seen both Pap and SAB and I could not discern any meaningful difference between the two. The bridle leather used was similar on both.

Tanner Krolle used to be the top maker of bridle leather goods. In fact, most of the SAB designs were copies of Tanner Krolle's cases.

I just picked up two vintage bags off ebay and am eagerly anticipating their arrival. I'll post more pics when they arrive.

I have liked this look since seeing the Bond movie "From Russia With Love". After all, if it is good enough for JB, right? What also influenced me were my frequent visits years ago to the Swaine Adeney store that used to be in San Francisco. They used to have these hard sided cases in all sizes and in stacks all over the store. Not only was the leather thick and waxey but it also smelled wonderful. I just never liked the looks of the top opening bags. They looked too institutional. Like an auditors case.

This bag is beautiful ... does the ebay seller typically deal in vintage bags? If so care to share their details?

I really like the music bag. The bar gives it something extra that you never see on other bags. Simple and elegant.
