This Versace briefcase (or one just like it)*...has served me faithfully for about 16 years. It could do with a bit of cleaning up and conditioning. *The first one was in the trunk of my '92 Lexus SC300 sport coupe (manual shift) when it was stolen. The car was nearly new when stolen...It was recovered 7 months later...They had captured a large auto theft ring...and the police told me that the head of the "gang" was using my car as his personal vehicle. By then I had since replaced the Lexus, using the insurance money I had received 30 days after it was stolen. Insurance also paid for a replacement briefcase. I contacted the Versace store who arranged to have an identical bag shipped in from Italy.

About 12 years ago I was looking for something a little different in a briefcase that would be large enough to hold most of our portfolio samples (Graphic Design Firm), but still have a "business like" appearance. I was thrilled to score this briefcase by Pineider... It was one of those "right time, right place" situations...and when I saw the rich, dark green leather I knew immediately that I had found the winner. FYI- It's larger than it looks in the pic. It's a triple gusset. Although it might look like it, that's not a strap that's attached to the buckle...just part of the design. This one could also do with some cleaning/conditioning.

Looking for a first leather brief/bag... Any comments on this one? http://leather-briefcases.com/delporbrief.html

I was thinking of finding something similar while in China (and maybe picking up a black one as well) Don't think I'll find anything that will fit my 17" Powerbook with sleeve, but guess I can cross my fingers... On side note, I assume you treat leather bags as you do with shoes? - Condiiton and polish them once a month? - maybe less considering less wear than shoes? I know the general consensus on the forum is a resounding "No" when it comes to straps - but if one were to use it, is there a possibility of the polish rubbing off on the clothes?

Conditioning - good. Polishing - good. Strap - not good. Polish should not come off if it has time to dry.

Really nice case - you've got good taste. Larry.

Does anyone know of any other makers who do a similarly "modern" looking hard-sided case like this? I've seen Brigg's updated line, but it's still a bit fussy for my taste. I love the silver hardware and corners, especially.

I'm thinking I've spotted Ralph Lauren before, and maybe Bottega Veneta?

Would this still be true in say....90F/32C degree weather with 90-100% humidity, on a strap leaning/rubbing against my thigh/lower back for extended walking/standing periods? (Trying to think worse case scenario...ok guess worst case would include rain blowing sideways...typical Miami Summer weather...but lets assume a sudden rain shower doesn't occur ;-)) On a side note, on average, how much do you all carry (weight-wise) in your brief case/bag?, with an average 15" laptop and say portfolio and some documents - I would assume a minimal of 14 lbs/6.3kgs (including the weight of the bag)? - seems like alot to carry over long distances with a handle (thinking back to my days at working as an I.T. mgr at a large resort...a round trip from one end to the other was 1/4 mile, or rushing through the loooong airport terminals)

My portfolio alone probably weighs more than what is inside it--some CAD plots, a sketchpad, and a pen. lol. Very nice case choice, by the way.

Brooks Brothers Black Fleece line has one that is very similar.

Just got this in the mail today;

Vintage Coach. Really good condition. Any tips for cleaning up some of the small scratches/scuffs?

Thanks in advance.

+1.

Beautiful. Where they an Ebay score? I have been searching antique and thrift stores for years looking for something as well used.

Vintage Vuitton. Yes, the canvas is up-side down because it's meant to be viewed from the front when you open the lid up. A good beater kind of case given the durability of the canvas.
