Deer bone wont help in the same way it helps with cordovan shoes...

With regualr calf skin it will compress the fibers and slick the edges of the cut making it less deep and possibly even closing it up a but. (You do not need an acutal dear bone to do this any flat hard surface works fine with a bit of water on the leather that you are slicking.  )

Yep - I've got one like yours in black from Pickett (not quite as nice as your by the look of it) and it is quite a bit thinner than the Cleverley one with a zip that goes most of the way round. Is also lighter and more flexible.

I didn't really *need* the Cleverley one, but couldn't resist...

Greetings all,

I've been browsing through the pages, i see many designer brand briefcases.

Anyone has experience or comments about briefs by Herring?

This address worked when I last contacted him (spring '13), but I read that he had retired as of this this year.

rfclarksaddlery AT hotmail DOT co DOT uk

He also had an ETSY account under "rfclarksaddlery".

There may be others, but the closest I can think of in an active UK leatherworker is Simon Baker (username "casemaker" on SF). You may have seen some of his work in this thread. If not, his work is really top-notch, very custom, and I believe some price-points above what Clark's were.

Yeah sadly Ray has retired, I emailed him a month or two back.

A +1 to the above - Simon is a good guy and will make you a proper case
