Wow

That is so much more awesome than any of those ridiculously over-priced $40,000 crocodile briefcases that have popped up in every window on Madison Avenue.

What is wrong with the world?...

Great bag! How much would it set me back, roughly, if I was to get a similar bag made, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks.

Thanks for the comments.

Sorry Tony, I am no longer able to get the 1786 Russian reindeer hide, but if I can help with anything else, please pm me.

I suppose I'll also go with the chestnut English Briefcase first, then down the road to pick up the Lock Briefcase for, maybe, the cleaner design.

Also, do you mind post a pic or two of the cases that you have? I'd be very interested in seeing how they have aged.

Thanks!

This is the lawyer's briefcase

This is the English Briefcase displayed against a 30 or so year-old Hartmann belting briefcase. These bags in theory are the same color. These are iPhone photos.

These are, I'm afraid, iPhone pictures. The one with the buckle not closed is the Lawyers Briefcase. The other one is the English Briefcase. The English is displayed against a Hartmann from around 30 years ago.

English w/Hartmann:

Lawyers Briefcase:

If you are interested in more streamlined, have you considered the American Briefcase?

Let me know if you need better pictures. These cases are cognac.

I have been using the 1786 Russian reindeer hide since the 1980's, so this was not a 'one time', rather a 'last time'

from the hide,

to,

to the finished case,

Thanks! But somehow I cannot seem to see the pictures.

Regarding to the American Briefcase, I actually compared it many times with the British Briefcase and not sure which one to get. I guess British can be easily dress down and the American is more strictly business. And if I decided that I will definitely pickup the lawyer's briefcase then I guess I'll go for the American so that I have one with rounded edge and one more angular.

Hey guys, I am looking for a briefcase to serve as a gift to my good friend who recently got a big promotion and now needs to me more presentable than ever.

He now holds a senior management position at one of the biggest companies in the Baltics (Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia), which means he attends plenty of high-level meetings and meets the key clients of the company.

Given his line of work, most of the time he requires for his laptop (MB Pro 15") to be with him at the meetings.

He currently carries around a beat-up Victorinox laptop case that he had since our college days. He is not a type of person to spurge on such things as a business bag, he much rather put his extra money away in the savings account.

Me and some other friends are considering gifting him a good, presentable leather briefcase, since he will probably never buy one himself (he's that kind of person). But we are 100% sure he will appreciate us gifting it to him.

Our budget is not sky-high, about 400-500 USD. We are looking for a classic leather briefcase that can fit a 15" laptop.

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

such a great thread and such quality information here....

does frank clegg ever go on sale ? where can i get it cheaper ?

Does anyone know of a list of good brands to look at when looking for these leather briefcases? (Good quality/thick leather.)

(I have always been a backpack wearer but these look so dammed nice. I am a new to the world of fine bags. I was actually thinking about going to tandy leather and just sewing up my own bag. There are so many stellar examples here to emulate. )
