Is it normal that the rear section of my bridle leather brief is way shinier than the rest? It is the part that rubs on my clothes when walking. I am thinking the constant friction against clothes has buffed it. Has anybody had this experience?

Very very nice!!

I am new to briefcases.  How effective is this large flap closure against rain, snow, etc?  I got a bag in this style, and like this bag, the top sides are "exposed" when the bag is closed.  There is no zippered compartment and my electronics are all "exposed".  ANyone have problems from rain?

I've experience no problems with exposure to the elements; we're talking about a very small slit at top sides that is exposed, and on bags with straps you can tighten them down even further. That said, I keep my electronics (laptop, iPads, Kindle) in their own leather cases inside my briefcases, so I needn't worry to begin with. Also, this particular bag design - the Mitchell Leather Classic - can be customized (within reason) inside for electronics. Several of my Tumi briefcases have zippered compartments and tablet slots inside as well.

Yes, I have with some of my cases - it does depend on the leather. I do believe friction buffing the leather is the cause. Nothing to worry about IMO. If you want the case more uniform, condition and buff the rest of it.

Yes thats normal. The waxes and oils or "spew" that makes english bridle what it is will start to surface with use and heat and your clothes are essentially buffing that away leaving the shine behind.
